There are a bunch of “luxury” used car lots owned by one company in my area that buy up some seriously sketchy cars and offer them at prices that are way too high. I’m still shocked that they are in business, unless they have customers walking in and haggling them down to 50% of the asking price on the regular. There’s no way people are stupid enough to buy at those kinda prices.
I lowballed them an offer of $70,000 back at the beginning of the summer. They didn't even counter offer. They basically said they knew what they had and it's an absolute steal at that price. The owner of the dealership also owns a BMW dealership so they exactly what a 2015 M5 is worth. They just keep hyping up that this is a collector's car.

Cacafuego posted:

Wow, I was way off on what I had thought were prices for an M5. I was thinking in the range of $80k - when did they get that high?
To be fair, that's CAD. It works out to be about $110,000 in USD.

It has a solid rear axle so yeah, I guess he just cut a rear diff in half and welded it onto the axle.

For unknown reasons VAG no longer uses CVTs in any of its vehicles.
I think that’s the one where the marketing people got them to added “shift points” so it felt like a “regular” automatic and the engineers were really mad about it.

The guy shows up at my friend's house, looks at the item and says "Oh yeah you're right, it won't fit in a car." and says he can't take it since he brought a car.
