There are a bunch of “luxury” used car lots owned by one company in my area that buy up some seriously sketchy cars and offer them at prices that are way too high. I’m still shocked that they are in business, unless they have customers walking in and haggling them down to 50% of the asking price on the regular. There’s no way people are stupid enough to buy at those kinda prices.
I lowballed them an offer of $70,000 back at the beginning of the summer. They didn't even counter offer. They basically said they knew what they had and it's an absolute steal at that price. The owner of the dealership also owns a BMW dealership so they exactly what a 2015 M5 is worth. They just keep hyping up that this is a collector's car.

Cacafuego posted:

Wow, I was way off on what I had thought were prices for an M5. I was thinking in the range of $80k - when did they get that high?
To be fair, that's CAD. It works out to be about $110,000 in USD.

You’d think that he would take time to clean the interior before posting the ad. There are stains and spills everywhere.

Besides the usual early 2000s VW electrical gremlins you get to do fun things like dropping the engine to replace the O2 sensors.

Where the hell do you get a fake rear diff/axle and traction bars? Did he loving fabricate them?
It has a solid rear axle so yeah, I guess he just cut a rear diff in half and welded it onto the axle.

How in the hell are Fiero kits still around? How many donor cars can there be at this point? Like, it kind of made sense when a clean Fiero was easy to come by and cheap, but at this point most of them are rusty basket cases if they are still driving. The thought of tearing into one of those is nauseating.

The Audi Multitronic CVT used in the early B/C6.

It was a CVT made by Audi.

It was supposed to revolutionize CVTs by replacing the torque converter with a series of multiplate clutches.

For unknown reasons VAG no longer uses CVTs in any of its vehicles.
I think that’s the one where the marketing people got them to added “shift points” so it felt like a “regular” automatic and the engineers were really mad about it.
