If it was 2-3k, then well I wouldn't still go for it. The upshot with an H1, is all the rust bits can be replaced with army surplus hardware. The body tub is aluminum so that can be media blasted and repainted. Toss the steel roof and doors and convert to a soft top. Get surplus doors for a few hundred dollars. Sell the interior vinyl and plastic and convert the interior to a military truck with minimal electronics [all the civilian wiring is going to be hosed with the rust].

Would there really be 'surplus' parts these days given we're still in Iraq?

The interior is all original and in very nice condition. The odometer on the car shows 99,000 miles. I stripped the body to bare metal, took out all dents and painted the car black/clearcoat. I put in $2000 worth of new sound system. The car needs to be re-titled. I have taken it through a State Patrol inspection and have the documentation for that. Just needs to be appraised and then can be re-titled. I have over $7000 into this car but my house now has some major problems that I need to deal with and can't spend any more time or money on it. Years later (last year) I was going through some boxes he'd left behind after the divorce, and stumbled onto a box full of magazines about vans from the 70s. It kinda blew my mind a little that enough people were into doing things with vans that there was a whole professionally-published magazine about it.

When I first saw the pictures I thought the front bumper had a bra over it. Nope. Front bumper cover is missing and looks like it got broken off. ("It had a crack so we took it off. We can get a new one." Uh huh.) Lots of deep dings and scratches, too. Most of the exposed metal I saw had some rust on it; I only imagine what the frame was like.

They had to use a portable jump-starter to get it going. Engine sounded beautiful. Turn signals, tachometer, outside drivers door handle were all busted. Driver's seat in poo poo shape.

They sent me on a test drive (I had no intention of buying it going in, and less so after the initial impression) and the fucker died on me at the first light I came to. Turned the key to restart and nothing, not even a click. That was a fun experience.

Hi,

Thank you for being interested in buying my 1974 Chevrolet Corvette, 10,900 miles, Transmission: Manual.
It is in EXCELLENT condition; the body and paint are great, no scratches and no dents; the interior is clean; it has never been involved in an accident; comes with all the documents needed for registration and clear title.

My final price on it is US $5,700. It is priced to sell fast !

My husband died one month ago and I decided to move closer to my parents(they are very old) in Canada and the car is here with me. As I am unable to travel in the near future and having no one to help me with the sale I decided to make this transaction through eBay. I believe this protects both buyer and seller and it's the right way to do this.
So don't get me wrong and don't take it personally but I would prefer to secure the deal through eBay. Also because the car will be shipped from Canada to US I prefer to work with a third party in order to keep the both of us safe in this deal. I will be assured you will buy the car and you will be assured that you will receive it! Basically the money will be sent to them and they will keep the money until you receive the car and only after you inspect and drive it they will forward the money to me.

If you have other questions feel free to email.

Is this gold? I don't know Porsches. :/ At least he posts a good ad. I hate the "car for sale, has engine, call?" minimal-effort ads.

Porsche 944 - 5 Speed, Leather, CD Player, 22+ MPG, GREAT CAR! - $3500

quote:

The time has come to part ways with my newest toy, a 1983 Porsche 944. It has the rare Brown leather interior. I purchased this car only a short time ago and I am already forced to see it go... I bought it to use as a commuter & "toy," but my business needs every penny I can invest in it to help it survive the quickly approaching winter season. I have priced the car for a quick sale. It really needs nothing but a new driver - Ive been using it as a daily driver and it gets an amazing 22-25mpg! In the short time I have owned it, I have installed a billet-racing short shifter, a new Porsche Cayman Shift knob, new brown leather shift boot, New brown OEM Dash Cap, all new brighter and longlife lightbulbs in the tail, tinted the orange rear blinkers to red, put new air-struts on the tailgate door, cleaned the K&N performance air filter, and have a subwoofer to throw in the trunk. It came pre-wired for a high quality system, and the previous owner had installed an aftermarket Panasonic CD player. There are two nice amps in the trunk, as well as a fancy digital crossover, etc. The Timing and Balance belts were done only 6000 miles ago. The car currently has 157k miles on it and runs very strong. It hasnt ever let me down! It has performace ceramic (low dust) brake pads on it. It has the rare factory rear-cargo cover. This is an awesome little car that I searched long and hard to find. I REALLY do not want to sell it. It is a solid turnkey driver, and would be perfect for ANYONE. This could be a teen's first car, or your Grandpa's weekend cruiser.

My plans for it if I dont sell and keep it - First and foremost, Paint and a new driver seat. The paint is 100% original - The car hasnt ever been in a wreck or needed any body or paint work (dont get me wrong, it does currently have a couple dents/dings in the 27 year-old panels), but the OEM clear bra has a ton of rock chips in it. I'd have the clear bra pulled off and the whole car painted. As far as the seats - the rears look brand new. The passenger seat is in fantastic shape, but the driver one has a split in the bottom seat pad cover. I would have replaced the seat already, but the brown leather interior is pretty hard to find. The center arm rest could be replaced, it has a little crack in the leather and a divet where your elbow would rest. Again, it's 27 years old. The A/C needs recharging.

I also have a few uninstalled things that go with the car:

* (working) used power antenna - The one thats on the car is stuck in the "out" position but the more I've investigated the issue the more I think that when the aftermarket radio went in, the antenna wasnt re-installed properly.

* A Car cover - this was from the previous owner who used it whenever the car was not going to be driven for any amount of time.

* A workshop manual on CD, as well as the Haynes Manual. The previous owner threw in a couple new OEM Oil filters, I changed the oil and used one 100 miles ago. One remains.

* 944 Turbo (style) rear air diffusers - painted primer black. I'll try to get these mounted ASAP!

* NEW performance Motor Mounts - There is a vibration (which is notorious on the 944's) which is due to worn out rubber on the mounts. I ordered them and they were on backorder... I should have them ANY day.

I can get pictures of the interior, engine, or anything else you'd like to see on the car, just ask. Im somewhat negotiable on the price ... but any low-ball offer will not get a response. If you are reading this ad the car is still for sale! Give me a call, text, or an email with any questions. Thanks!

Honestly, I can accept the lack of sheer speed for the wonderful noise it makes and the body styling, but you're right, it really is a bitch to find one that's in decent condition and isn't grossly overpriced.

C4s are all over the place (one guy stubbornly clung to an ~$8K asking price for his 1984 auto for like nine months, some guys put their 88s up for ~$6K) but anything with an LT1 seems to almost always command a significant price premium, and C5s are never ever seen intact for less than five digits.

DATSUN 280-Z coupe, 1978 - $8200 (Gladstone,OR)

This is a 5-speed, factory AC car that had the exterior stripped to bare metal and repainted the original copper/brown color, base coat/clear coat this time. New brown cloth seat kit installed; looks and feels great. Later 280-ZX factory aluminum wheels, good tires. Gorgeous car, inside and out. This car gets driven on a regular basis and has current Oregon license/tags. $8200. Would consider trades, up or down; vehicles only, please. Looking for a 1953-64 Studebaker coupe/hardtop (second childhood, you know), or a 58-63 Thunderbird, T-bird. 503-655-2256 JOHN.

Before you ask, yes, the price is negotiable but NOT over the phone and NOT without either you seeing the car or engaging in a prolonged discussion of it's pluses and minuses. Thanks.

Spammers: DON'T ask; if the ad is there, the car is available!

key words: Nissan, Studebaker, sports car

I think this Z has been up for sale for at least nine months, if not longer.

Don't even consider driving it until we make up a contract and you give me 50% of the money for my horribly overpriced car. In fact, I won't even show it to you until you make me a serious offer.

If you're lucky I'll respond to your inquiry and let you smell my poo poo. Want photos? gently caress you.

PS: You owe me money by even reading this ad and making me waste my time by writing it. :colbert:

I have to wonder about ads like this. Do they ever sell, or does the jackass seller give up after a few months and trade it in at a lot towards a new car while getting his "special deal" (paying sticker price)?

Why yes, I'd be happy to pay $50K FIRM* for your nice, albeit 30 year old Porsche with 167K.

*or make me an offer

Am I wrong, or do some people seem to seriously expect a bidding war to erupt for their cherished pristine artifact of automotive perfection? I sometimes get that impression from "well I'll take at least $x", since why the hell would I offer more than the minimum?

The other "woman owned" problem you'll find are with the obsessive hand cream users. It eats the silk screened paint off of the turn signal stalk and anything else they touch (including computer keyboards). Took me a few years in IT before I figured out what was going on with those keyboards.

And now I know!
