trouser chili posted:Those are body-on-frame, correct? If so then the body can be cut any which way and won't affect structural integrity of anything but the body itself. So it might not be so pleasant to crash, but the working bits are all just as solidly mounted as before. that makes sense if its body on frame (i think it is)

Don't want to do a swap. i've been looking for a decent e30 in the los angeles area for a few months now. Anything in good shape is rediculously priced at like 7k+

Rhyno posted:It's very popular among rappers and the hip hop crowd in general. LV, Gucci and Burberry end up plaster on car interiors all the time if you have the money. It's pretty hard (and really really exspensive) to get the raw material. Most of these car interiors posted in this thread are fake.

This 82' corolla wagon is badass. It would make an awesome commuter or swap candidate. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/3713776609.html

SkunkDuster posted:My dad was real big into 81/82 Corolla wagons (just like that one) for a long time and he must have owned 6-7 of them over the years. Two of them ended up being hand me downs that I owned as a teen and drove for about 5 years. There is nothing special nor badass about them. They were certainly better built and designed a Citation or an Escort from that time period, but I don't see any appeal in them. The manual transmissions were geared low enough that they would launch like a bat out of hell and had great 0-40 times, and they could really fly though deep mud or huge deep puddles if you had a good run because they were light enough not to sink down. I guess if you wanted to buy it to beat the poo poo out if it, it would be fun, but as a daily driver, I think you'd be better off putting that $3000 into something else. There no way in hell I was thinking of buying it, haha. I was just saying its super clean and would be a cool swap candidate instead of the ae86 you always see.

Terrible Robot posted:R33s are still technically legal for import into the states but have to go through an expensive federalization process and a bunch of other bullshit. Motorex did all the necessary work to get them federally approved, but where they hosed up was trying to apply the crash test/EPA results of the R33 to the R32 and R34 as well. Feds were not at all happy when they found out, Motorex was gutted, and any R32/4 Skyline imported by them can be seized and crushed at any time. Yeah, but a LOT of shady poo poo went along with that. I read the story that involved car theft, drugs, organized crime and a ton of their crazy poo poo. They also did shoddy work beyond just applying the r33 numbers to the 32 and 34, it really was a huge clusterfuck. With the 25 year import rule it boils down to be a LOT simpler allowing a single person to import a car for his personal use. No buying tons of them to crash and test and modify to pass regulations. EDIT: I'm excited for the cars that will soon be open to import. Not so much the skylines, but more so early evolutions, subarus, and JDM SiR hondas etc..
