My fly-out-drive-home story didn't go well, I flew from Portland, OR to Boise for a Fiero that I was going to drive home. I asked the guy if it'd last a long trip, he said he drove it around town but wouldn't trust it on a long drive, so of course I flew out...

The only big issue (that I was aware of at the time) was that fifth gear and reverse (right below 5th on the stick shift) didn't work, I thought it was a linkage issue and I could drive home in 4th. Yeah, no. Turns out that was a different problem, and compounding that one was the fact that the transmission oil had all leaked out.

I got about 2 hours down the road (to Baker City, Oregon) when the transmission locked up solid when I stopped for gas, wouldn't come out of gear. Had it towed to a shop (which was open on Saturdays, lucky) and they said it was hosed and could look at it Monday. Having just paid a grand for the car, I wasn't going to pay shop rates for a new transmission. Took the greyhound home that night, rented a trailer the next day and borrowed a truck from a friend, and drove back. Pushed the car onto the trailer with a forklift, and drove right back home, unloaded the car into my garage at about 1am that night by putting rubbermaid tub lids under the rear wheels (was still stuck in gear) and dragging the car off the trailer with a combination of a come-along and dangling my body weight from a tow rope tied to the rear subframe and the backmost rafter in my garage.

Eventually replaced the transmission, still have the car. Happy endings!

I made that same trip for an M3, ending was not as happy unfortunately.

1st gens like that are a little easier to find, I've seen a few pop up on the local CL and I don't really look that often. Much harder to find 2nd gens.

An Attex and a biturbo on the same page? Somebody could confidently buy them both knowing they have detailed maintenance threads available here.

Not like the VR6, no. Probably not a lot of low mileage ones like that for sure though.

I think the only car I ever had to deal with that poo poo in was an Escort. Made me hate Escorts in general for a long time. I didn't realize it was a SRS bandaid, that's interesting.

I had an Escort as my first car and I still have a scar from where my finger got pinched in the auto seat belt

Ha! My first car was a 94 Escort LX and my mother "borrowed" it one day and the belt mechanism his her so hard in the head that it ripped out some of her hair.

Mine was a '94 LX as well, in a greenish-teal color. Yeah.

there was a really really minty 4dr 5 speed Integra GSR with like 90k miles that went for <$9k on BaT last year. taking away a cam and a real transmission... well, that is crackpipe pricing

This one just sold for <$6k. Higher mileage and a bit of rust on the underside though

Somebody on here years ago noted that the Crossfire looks like a dog squatting down to take a poo poo and that basically ruined an already questionable-looking car for me.

It is weird that he started talking about shipping and where you're from, but you were most likely annoying him before that, so

It's FB, they probably looked at his profile, saw he wasn't in the same area, and cut off any inevitable shipping questions ahead of time.

If you're a buyer on FB, you have to expect to be treated like an idiot because most buyers seem to ask stupid questions and end up flaking out anyway. You may be in the minority (or you may not be if you have a history of transactions gone wrong) but you shouldn't expect to get the benefit of the doubt.

That's a huge tank for what I imagine to be pretty low pressure needed in the bags, guess you rarely need the compressor though.

Air suspension needs volume, not necessarily high pressure. You can put a cheap and slow pump on there with a low duty cycle if you can buffer enough air in a big enough tank. Also, that looks like "what I happened to have around" kind of build.

Yeah, I have bags on my car 🙂. As you add air to the bags the pressure in the tank decreases, and once it drops to a certain point, the compressor is activated. My tank drops about 40psi from air out to air up, if I only had to fill the bags to 10psi or whatever like I imagine that golf cart would run, it would maybe drop the tank 3 or 4 psi. That's kinda what I meant, I understand your point about volume though and agreed on the second point for sure.
