They way that one is sitting, I guarantee it has the air suspension & is a bona-fide wagon. They were popular as ambulances. (edit) it's not running..,.so the airbag system could be shot. Wasn;t the '82 Skylark built on the Nova platform? I seem to recall most of them had frame alignment issues...When I'd follow one, it was always crabbing sideways down the road. Even new ones. Noticed it with the Buick Apollo and Pontiac Whateveritwas as well. --- I had an '86 Escort. "L". I felt very special. I could tote whole sheets of drywall with it, though. As tempting as that T-Bird is, I'm saving up for a rebuild on my 389 in a couple of months (project thread hilarity ahoy). Also got a kid starting college in a year, so... Yeah; there were a fair number of them when new. Converting a gas-designed motor to diesel isn't as easy as the GM marketeers assumed it would be. The only one of those I've seen around these parts (South Jersey/Philadelphia) was a little old lady car with less than 20K on it.

I found this last week. I want this car badly, and have e-mailed the guy three times this past week. No response. Now when I search for it, it can't be found...yet when I click on the e-mail link, it comes up. What gives?

I was just wondering if this was some kind of e-mail address harvesting scheme. "first $1800 drives it away," yet "price is negotiable?" Plus you're $8K into a fairly rare car, and you'll take $1800? with a running motor & driveable driveline? Then again, if you can't spell "rotisserie," maybe you're doing it wrong. It's frustrating. This is the third time I've found something really tempting - and the sellers never respond. PainterofCrap fucked around with this message at 17:42 on Nov 21, 2011 |

This one's been up for quite awhile. I was really interested in it as a resto for my wife, but she passed on it. I'm too large for it...I bet it could be had for well uder $2K by now. I've talked to the sister of the owner...it's an estate sale...he bought it from a guy in New Mexico to restore, and died suddenly, The body has very little rust and is complete, Motor is all there but isn't set up to run (judging by the loose drive belt). These cars are very cool and extremely rare, especially on the East Coast. Looks like a fairly easy resto. I'm still tempted... http://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/2692008321.html There's a ton of detailed photos linked to the posting. https://picasaweb.google.com/103366564687605490775/1962CORVAIR (will post image when imgur is back up...it's a 1962 Corvair Lakewood station wagon) (edit) PainterofCrap fucked around with this message at 22:04 on Dec 22, 2011 |
