Flipping christ, has anyone else tried to sell a car on CL lately? I can't even count how many people have offered to buy it but are sending somebody to get it because they're too busy but they'll have a check in the mail shortly. At least one guy was different, he wanted to paypal me the money, but I figured it was just the same old scam-o, probably by using a stolen paypal account or simply disputing the charges after stealing the goods.

This isn't a craigslist post, but figured this was the best place to get this kind of opinion. Found this Toyota (Corolla? I don't even know what year) sitting to the side at the local salvage yard. It's all there, but it's been sitting for years. Scrap man says I can have it for $375 with title. What exactly is it, and would this be a good buy?

I had an '85 Opel Ascona which was a J body that I was surprisingly quite pleased with. But it had a 5 speed and I think put together much better than any J body in the states. Also my buddy had a '91 Mark VII Bill Blass edition was a pretty awesome car back in 2000 when it was only a 9 year old car. He sold it to his brother and... it hasn't aged very well since.

Really it makes more sense to go to a county surplus auction or estate auction. surplus generally receive fleet maintenance and estate vehicles are typically low miles due to the age disability of the previous owners. Plus the auction won't put up the cars on the block for hours allowing you to look them over and maybe car fax on your phone. You just have to be patient and have money on hand. My two best vehicles I bought at auctions, 03 silverado for 3k and an 85 Olds delta 88 for $250 and they are both still on the road.
