Fuuuuuu... I wish I had $900. And lived nearby. I would buy the gently caress out of that just for the engine to power my '64 Country Squire.

It's in my neighborhood, but my experience with working on cars has been purely cosmetic. I have no garage and it's going to be cold as hell for the next 6 months or so.

Real gold? Tempting project.

Don't waste your time. Once you got the car finished and customized just how you like it, you'd have to park it in the driveway and just pretend you're driving it.

I just sold my car for $1900 and this is really goddamn tempting. IT COMES WITH A loving CASKET :colbert:

Totally worth it. And if you buy a large plot, you can be buried in it.(in the casket which is in the hearse). Plus you can make money with it. Go to your neighborhood funeral home and offer to haul bodies around for them. Who wouldn't want to go for a final ride in a white Cadillac?

1958 International Harvester Metro Panel Truck RARE $950 posted:

Date: 2011-03-22, 9:20PM EDT

I am re-posting my panel truck. I have been debating selling it or keeping it to restore, but I am in pretty bad need of some money so it's up at a very very low price.

1958 International Harvester Metro Panel Truck
Needs restored to be very nice, but it is very very solid and restorable

Inline gasoline engine, manual trans, factory dually rear
has 2 blind rear doors

Has been sitting for a while so it is not currently running, but was told it ran when put away

There is NO TITLE for the vehicle at this time.... i have taken that into account in the price already

NADA Classic Vehicle Blue Book for this truck is 4-6 thousand as it sits

Need it gone ASAP
Pick up by this weekend

Sean

May take a trade if its something I can sell, or replace something of mine to sell

He put 4500 on the ad itself. If this Mark III gets mileage anything like my grandpa's Mark V, you're not going very far in your cruise across America. The Mark V gets 8 mpg. Highway.

This sounds like a perfect use of your AAA Plus membership. You've got one of those, right? If you don't, you should if you intend on driving cars that aren't brand-new. The $80 or so for a year would probably be about the cost for this one flatbed trip, and would allow you another 3(up to 100 miles each).

I have towing up to 100 miles from my insurance company, but I think it's for breakdowns...not sure if they'd cover that ("hey, you know that car I just got a policy for yesterday, can you tow it to my house?")

If I have to pay for a tow, I have to...I guess I'm less worried about flatbedding it home as I am buying it w/o driving it.

The AAA membership covers you, not your vehicle, and can be used for pretty much any purpose. If you're riding with your buddy to a concert or something and his shitbox breaks down on the way home, it'll cover getting his car towed back to civilization. Or if you want to buy a car you know doesn't work for parts, it'll tow that back to your house as well. Definitely do some driving of it before buying it, but don't risk your life trying to drive a car with unknown issues down the highway.

The drive does give fucks, I used to be that driver. Bad plates? No tow. I can start it and it'll run and drive? No tow. I get paid the same starting a car and leaving as towing a car someplace. Hell I get paid the same if I show and no service rendered due to no-show of the customer, bad plates/whatever. I'd rather start it and run to the next one, turn and burn. Back in those days a call was worth $14, the more calls you ran, the more money you made. I'd always do whatever was fastest. Some guys would give pretty ladies (tow hos) exceptions.

If this is the case when I call AAA it'll have made my purchasing a membership entirely useless and I will be bitching at people on the phone for hours.

It's not on Craigslist but it is a used car for sale. You have to wonder how much that paint job is going to knock off the eventual selling price. X/P from the "you put WHAT on your car" thread.

I don't know who is trying to sell that, but a smart seller(ala "Pawn Stars") would just go ahead and shell out to get it painted so they don't lose the extra couple grand.

On the topic of misspellings of manuel transmission components, there is an auto shop near my hometown that specializes in clutchs. This is written on a huge, professionally-made sign, not spraypainted on a piece of cardboard in the window.

Similarly, there's an auto service place that I deliver to at work, and their giant sign says "BROADWAY AUTOMOTIVE" and slightly smaller below it, but still pretty big "FORMALLY RICK'S SHELL". They have a printed sign taped on the front door that says "BROADWAY AUTOMOTIVE / FORMERLY RICK'S SHELL" so apparently someone corrected them after they had the big rear end sign made.

How do you open the doors?

Not sure on this specific car, but on other cars with shaved handles I've seen, it's a button on a fob to remotely pop it open, then you can swing it out. Resulted once in me having to open a customer's door as if she had locked herself out of the car(though the doors were unlocked).
