Sup goons? I just launched a new store to support my crippling addiction to el wire. It's named after the genetic sequence in bacteria that codes for bio-luminescence! I'm a nerd! https://www.etsy.com/shop/luxoperon Right now I've got a load of sound-reactive goggles out on the storefront, and depending on how sales progress, I'll be adding more goodies once I turn a few items around. It's definitely less provincial than most etsy stores, and I have no idea if that's going to work for or against me. Here's an example of what I've listed so far: https://www.etsy.com/listing/110747381/el-wire-sound-reactive-rave-goggles-red If you like what you see, give me some love on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/luxoperonelwire EDIT: Fixed link. Wandering Knitter posted:Rocketfish, your glasses look cool but I find the aquarium (?) in the background a bit distracting. The aquarium was the quickest way I could backlight the goggles when taking pictures with the wire turned on. In the future, I'll try and use a different set up. Also, I replaced the text with a tiny watermark in the corner of each picture. Thanks for the tips.

Finally got my second batch of el wire goggles done. I'm using different frames this time around, and I'm listing a bunch with dual colors. Also no more watermarks because who cares. https://www.etsy.com/listing/119278729/el-wire-goggles-light-blue https://www.etsy.com/listing/119277642/el-wire-goggles-ectoplasm The code GOONSOVERMYHAMMY gets you 10% off your order. Prototyping new items sucks a butt, but I'm really, really close to finalizing el panels you can pin to fabric things, which are way more fun to make than goggles: custom neon t-shirts that you can wash/wont break after 1 night of use. Also, I've gotten some pretty stupid custom requests in the past couple of months. One guy wanted a pair of goggles that would have UV LEDs mounted on the inside of the frames to light up his glow in the dark contacts. I've never made anything that's specifically designed to cause irreversible retinal damage, but now I can say I've had the excuse!

Welp, it's been a busy month for me. I finally figured out how to make a el-wire t-shirt panel that's light, durable, and pretty easy to throw together considering what I was trying before. https://www.etsy.com/shop/luxoperon?section_id=13325779 https://www.etsy.com/shop/luxoperon?section_id=13325781 The best part is that customs are not at all hard to tackle. The worst part is I have no idea if my current prices are reasonable. People slap a wire on a dress and give it, like, a $100 pricetag, which just seems crazy to me. I can still turn a profit selling some of these for $30.

Thanks for the compliments everybody! I think once I sell the originals and relist, I'll bump each price up by ten bucks.four lean hounds posted:Rocketfish those are awesome! They'd be great for DragonCon or any dimly lit venue. So cool! I think the best shop names are simple a kitschy enough to sound like a brand. I'd avoid incorporating your name or trying to sound "cute". Think of an idiom that applies to what specific art you want to sell and run with it. My store name is a little obtuse and requires some explanation, which I'll admit makes it a pretty crappy store name, but I've already established myself locally. It helps that I can shorten it to "Lux" if I really need to. Also, just to get the ball rolling on some sales, the coupon code "GLOWGOON" will get you guys 25% off a purchase of $50 or more.

I just made 2 sales this week thanks to ads, but that's largely because a lot of my items are aimed toward the "convention" crowd. I guess I'm not alone in using etsy to promote my stuff in between selling at Artist Alleys at big anime cons. FYI "Kingdom Hearts" is apparently still a thing. I guess I'll be making an Organization 13 el panel. vv One thing that drives me up the wall is the fact you can't embed videos in any part of etsy. How many more sales do you think you'd make if you could post a video of a model wearing one of your necklaces? Or some sexy guy lathering up with your soap? Anyone selling apparel and/or accessories knows what I'm talking about. I mean, it's 2013, for fucks sake. My grandma embeds youtube vids on her crochet blog.
