I appreciate the shop views I've gotten from this thread, and probably jerk goons searching for my posts and stalking me. :3:

I also take custom orders for hand drawn polymer clay pendants; I do trees and birds mostly but I can draw any animal or pretty much anything.

I understand. She does put a lot of work into it, even the boxes she ships them in are pretty intricate (for a box). I looked again and $50 is actually her middle range, she has quite a few at $75 and even one set of earrings at $150.

Here are some examples. These are each $45:

Thanks for your help!

they're pretty but I wouldn't pay that much money for them. then again it depends, is that silver and quartz or what? plus from what I've heard, the going rate for jewelry is like $20/hour and I can't imagine it takes her/anyone that long to throw together some stones and some wire-wrapping. I've done it myself.

personally I keep my prices low so I barely make a profit but I'd rather people have my work than have myself a ton of money. but it depends on the materials and the time/effort!!

pretty quartz like that is ridiculously expensive, though, so I can give her credit for that.

I'm unsure of the price of gold/I don't really care for gold and fancy metals but http://www.etsy.com/listing/85688243/14kg-skull-earrings?ref=fp_featured_item

isn't this is a ridiculous price for such simple earrings? hell, I could make those from polymer clay or something. is that really enough gold to be worth $200?

Honestly, the best business card deal is through this SA-Mart thread.

For $20 shipped you get 250 high quality cards with no ads or annoying MOO.COM on it. I bought some from him last year and they really are the best cards I've ever handled and are way more professional then any online printers.

 I got 250 business cards from vistaprint for $10, plus ~$7 shipping. and I got to make my own design; hand drawn and written and stuff.

I just use the electronic kiosk at the post office. v :) v (I have to go to a person for international orders though.)

I don't know if buying a printer/using ink/replacing ink/becoming a paid member of stamps.com/endicia/etc. would save you in the long run as opposed to using gas and going to the post office yourself though. depends on how far you are from a post office - I'm about a mile away and we usually go when mother is running errands so it isn't too much of a waste in gas.

uline is a good place to get supplies, although I've never ordered from them - I use the free priority mail boxes from the postal service and cover them in large yellow envelopes so I don't have to pay $5 for shipping. ;)

Folks who do things like farmer's markets, craft fairs, etc.: do you make stuff for those that you simply don't list on Etsy? Do you take all your Etsy-listed stuff along and put your shop on vacation for that day? Take some of your Etsy-listed items and pull their listings for the day?

I'm going to be participating in a weekly farmer's market June-October, supplying some of the items for a cat rescue group's table. I'm kind of tempted to put my Etsy shop in some kind of semi-vacation but at the same time I don't want people to see that and think it's dead.

when I did it for the first time, I just put in my shop announcement that some items could be unavailable on a certain date. luckily everything I sold either wasn't or etsy or could be reproduced easily. and there's a good chance that no one will buy it on etsy unless you're super popular anyway. I'm too nice, I told her that she could send it back before I posted here... I'm refunding everything but shipping charges.

I really need to write up my return policy. I don't mind if people want to return things but it kind of makes me feel lovely, you know?

All right! I have slacked big time and still need to re-take all my pictures, but I got my 2nd sale today and I can't figure out how to re-list the item. Or even where that listing is. Do I have to start over from scratch? My first sale was for an item with 5 in stock, so I didn't have this problem.

in the upper right, put your cursor over 'your shop: xxxxxxx' and go to 'sold orders.'

from there you can renew the listing quite easily.

I recently got complaints from some etsy-popular jerks that accused me of stealing ideas... which, I probably did, but whatever. Started calling me names and poo poo, said 'I'M REPORTING YOU TO ETSY WAUUUUGH,' they got really angry. I have plenty of original stuff in my shop, trust me, but I like to recreate popular items from the same or even different materials and sell them for less. I mean, who is going to pay $50 for a loving polymer clay bird necklace?

So they reported me to etsy and all etsy said was that I couldn't post links to the original works in my listings. :smug: Didn't take anything down, didn't care that I borrowed ideas.

I told one of the people off, saying, maybe you should report every single loving swooping sparrow necklace you see because that idea has been copied over and over.

What's wrong with recreating expensive items, exactly? I think they're nice but I wouldn't pay $50 for that poo poo.

Probably because they're super etsy popular and have been around since june 2009. And it's hardly unique.

hey, I'm not really looking into rejoining/participating in the etsy community on SA because I'm a big baby bitch, but I'm here to apologize for the plagiarism and all the lovely acting-out I did a few years ago. I was banned for it, and I deserved that. after that, I apologized to the people I plagiarized on etsy, and I removed the few items from my shop. a lot of bad poo poo was going on in my life at that point and the ban helped me straighten a lot of things out. four years on and I am in a better place, and my shop is good and fun now! no sarcasm or ill-will intended: thanks again for calling me out on my poo poo.
