I finally decided to start an Etsy shop. Mine is at http://www.etsy.com/shop/nmfolkman. It's crochet items including Kindle/ E-reader covers, stuffed animals, and will soon have bibs and booties.

The Kindle cover is cute but I have some feedback. You may want to explain / better photograph what you mean by cover. For instance I looked at it but I'm a little confused about what kind of cover it is. Is it a pouch with a side opening or a top? or is it something that goes over the kindle, but with a window so you can read with it on? You also might want to specify that it's sized for a Kindle 3.

Thanks! I'll make those clarifications. :)

Wow some cool stuff on here, my gf has a shop she loves to make baby stuff... I don't know about you guys but she has soo much yarn she could open a yarn shop

Cute stuff!

I definitely could open a yarn shop as well. I have two tasks for this weekend
1. take a picture of my massive yarn collection
2. write a pattern for a crochet Kindle cover for the Hookers thread

I promise I'll get them done this time!

I've also got some new items up on Facebook (because Etsy fees are killing me right now) - https://www.facebook.com/chicgeek82

The stuff on Facebook needs priced but I'll be doing that later today!

How did you get so many people to "like" you? I've got a Facebook page and I can't hardly get anyone to look at it- even my "friends." What are some good ways to get people to your page?

Mine is http://www.facebook.com/pages/Crochet-by-Nichole-Lost-Arts-Environmentally-Friendly-Gifts/189187344436166 by the way.

I know that giveaways and coupons are good, but if no one's looking at it... how are people going to know about it?

Did anyone else decide to do the Christmas in July sale someone asked about earlier? I decided to, so you can use coupon code CIJ20 to get 20% off your entire order from my store. http://www.etsy.com/shop/nmfolkman

I got creative today and made a couple new Kindle covers. I'm always happy to do custom orders if you like them but have another device.

I'm planning on making more with the buttons. I really like how the sun one turned out.

Argh! I've been open for 7 months and have 11 sales. What am I doing wrong?

(I do know that some of photography sucks, but I have been getting better at it... any other suggestions?)

How do you guys decide if doing a craft fair was a success? I did only my second one this weekend....

Last time I pretty much only made enough to cover my booth and the gas in my brother's truck I had to borrow. This time I covered my booth cost and quite a bit more... but I'm not sure how much to expect to make to know if I really feel happy about the results.

How do YOU gauge your success?

I'm in on the banner ad, too.

I've been thinking about posting a thread in SA Mart to make my custom Kindle covers (and other devices) but I'm involuntarily off of crochet right now because I sprained by wrist. This sucks!! It's been two days and I already REALLY miss it!

Does anyone make play food? Particularly wooden, but felt is OK too :) Or any kind of play kitchen stuff.

I have a few crochet food items. I have a whole cornucopia full at http://www.etsy.com/listing/83581302/thanksgiving-cornucopia-horn-of-plenty and my store also has a couple of other stand-alones. (Don't forget to use GOONYGOON to get 20% off if you like them.)

So I have listings in my shop that are custom orders. They have descriptions of what it is you're selecting and multiple pictures of ideas. Someone bought one of these items, this one to be particular http://www.etsy.com/listing/67488784/upgrade-for-kindle-cover-hunger-games-st. First of all, it's an upgrade and not exactly an item all by itself. I have, however, made just the felt pieces for people who already have a Kindle cover they like. The major issue here is that the buyer left no instructions with their order and after three attempts to contact them (2 through Etsy, 1 through e-mail) I have had no response and have no idea what to do. Any suggestions?

Is there a way to put a lot of my items on sale quickly/ easily? We just announced today that we're pregnant and since I sell bibs/ booties, I thought it would be a great opportunity for a sale on those items. Any ideas?

I'm going to put my shop on vacation at the end of this week since this baby is supposed to show up by the 20th. Get your orders in now for anything pre-made (I can't do custom right now because my hands are too swollen to crochet which sucks). GOONYGOON gets you 20% off. https://www.nmfolkman.etsy.com.

Lots of great baby/ child items for showers, Christmas, etc. I'm not sure when I'll open back up. It kind of depends on how this whole kid thing goes. :)

I'm in. The baby is supposed to get here any time and then I'll probably re-open my shop after a few weeks. Just the pre-made stuff at first and then I'll add the custom items back in for the holidays.

I was just having a laugh about this myself, mine was born last week so I'd shut down customs in my shop a few weeks ago. I came up with some really pretty Christmas ornaments last year, but I don't expect to have the free time to make much of anything for the rest of this year.

I'm on my first and was due yesterday. My doctor fully expects me to make it to my appointment on Tues without going into labor... :(

So I've been trying to figure out accepting gift cards in my shop and although I've been wading through the helps/ forums on Etsy it's taking way too long with a six week old.

Question- I figured out that I have to do direct checkout to accept gift cards, but do I have to be able to process the credit cards myself, or is it all done through Etsy like when Paypal does it?

I haven't been paying attention very well in here lately (7 month old baby!) and I want to buy a teething necklace. Before I buy from a non-goon, do any of you sell them?
