Wow, a stupid -chan stunt I can actually support. Although as soon as they come to their senses and realize they're doing something GOOD and USEFUL they'll probably give up.

What's really funny is that Scientology isn't going to have the basic sense to simply ignore them, which would undoubtedly cause them to lose interest. No, they'll just keep trying to fight back, until the entirety of 4chan is in full attack mode.

As I mentioned in the other Scientology thread, I hope that Anonymous has a nice array of "yellow vans" to send their way.

$5000 to identify members of anonymous eh? That's mighty tempting, I bet you have to sign up for the CoS mailing list to claim the money though.

No matter who wins, everybody wins. Scientology vs a bunch of 12 year olds with too much time on their hands. No matter what happens I'll be happy with the result.

Yeah, I generally hate the bandwagon "Anonymous" poo poo that 4chan promotes (along with the others), but I was discussing this with my girlfriend last night and it's actually a fairly good thing, to me. When the CoS uses every legal recourse they have available to silence detractors, bankrupt ex-members, and basically make life miserable for people who disagree with them or try to expose their horrific practices, what other venues are there? How do you fight a group of people with fanatical devotion and huge bankrolls, lawyer lists and exploitations of society? You do it anonymously. You post embarassing poo poo about them. You widen the gap between them and credibility by exposing every single problem or "boo-boo" they happen to have made. At this point, what is Scientology going to do, shut down the Internet? I'm pretty sure this is going to be the catalyst (free exchange of information about them) that ultimately weakens and screws the CoS over.

This is probably the first and only time we can all band behind -chan people and support their cause. I'm not planning on getting sued by CoS anytime soon, so I will simply give them these words of support: Well done lads, well done. Keep fighting the good fight!

Or shows how far their hand really stretches, if they're able to stop Anonymous. But if that's the case, then maybe people will recognize them as a threat. Too many people write them off as 'cooky religion' instead of 'dangerous.' So far most attempts to stop *chan have been like stopping a waterfall using a colander. Making more stuff public, if they can really stay anonymous, would just leave scientology looking for a neck to strangle. No matter who loses, humanity wins. EDIT: Assuming they keep it up, and do more things like releasing these docs. If they just drop it then they will have failed... and this is the first time I'll ever say I hope they succeed. Given previous code magenta alerts, and the status of scientology here, i'm surprised more of sa doesn't get behind this. Regardless of what it does, it is bringing attention to these loving idiot scientologists, and that is never a bad thing.

Check out Alanzo's post on http://www.forum.exscn.net/showthread.php?t=3442&page=2 If the power of Internet Detectivery was truly used for something good, looking for Mike Rinder might be it. The discussion they're having in that thread is kind of interesting, if the Exscn community is willing to help and perhaps 'guide' Anon, there's certainly some potential. The problem will be striking a balance between Anon's autonomy and a guiding, knowledgeable hand from the Exscn community. If Anon heeds the advice in that thread, they could do some real damage.

I have to say, go 4Chan. Hopefully this goes somewhere useful. If any of the members are caught, anyway, I'm sure the whole internet will back them up in a plea of Retarded.
