Reposting this: If you are Dutch and planning on going to Amsterdam the tenth, PLEASE drop an e-mail to Amstergoons@gmail.com. Some people are still not sure if they'll go, and being able to say other people will attend helps a lot. It also gives us the opportunity to talk some specific stuff through.

So I had an idea for a raid...I went to a local CoS once and they gave me a "personality test" and then took me in a room alone and tried to sell me books on Scientology so I could fix myself. Well what if you coordinated with some people, took the test, and then when you went to the room you had a list of questions/info for your interviewer? That would be a very personal way to possibly sow seeds of dissent in local churches one person at a time, one on one. Any thoughts? This thread has EXPLODED since I was at work on Friday and I'm very glad to see the steam hasn't died down any!

This makes me Im working on imporving my first design for the business cards now. What I was talking about earlier was the logo of the business suit without a head. I wanna put the barcode over where the face would be, then have a black fedore hovering just a bit above the barcode. I cant seem to find a good picture of a fedora, though. Obviously don't make it too long. Perhaps something mentioning Tom Cruise, and how his celebrity is being used to promote a dangerous, Godless cult, in order to appeal to both the religious folks and the celebrity-obsessed types. Something listing the most grievous offenses of Scientology, Fair Game, etc. And an appeal to contact their local congressman about the "church's" tax-exempt status. Let those elderly relatives of ours swell the ranks of people complaining through official channels. Oh, and of course the obligatory "Forward this to everyone you know!"

Peppermate posted:Please, if you're unsure of what you can do to help, follow those instructions and throw the media a bone Ok I have to weigh in. As a working member of the media, I can tell you guys none of what you are suggesting is going to get you media coverage, at least television coverage. All of my experience is in television, so I will speak to how to draw TV attention only. 1) It is extremely important that you don't approach them as an activist group. Stations are constantly bombarded by A.C.O.R.N., Greenpeace/Sierra Club type groups, and their less than legitimate counterparts. I know I respond a lot better to "I'm just a viewer" than to "I've been spamming your e-mail/fax every 10 minutes for a week, why haven't you covered me?". 2) What TV stations want is "man on the street" appeal. Remember, they aren't programming to informed and educated groups, and they aren't really trying to inform. They want people to watch so they can make money. It's got to be sexy/appalling/heart-warming to make it onto affiliate TV. 99% of all press releases that arrive by e-mail and fax are looked at for 3-4 seconds and poo poo canned. We are flooded with loosely veiled sales pitches hundreds of times a day. Call. Ask for an Assignment Editor. Don't sound crazy. Start with the pay off. I.E. "Hello, I wanted to tell you about a protest that's going to happen at (fill in the blank). We have 99 kagillion people already committed to attend." 3) What you do has to be visual. This is also critical. I.E. if there's a lot of those stop signs in your market that have the "stop scientology" grafitti, you can call in as an IMPARTIAL VIEWER (critical), and report some locations. You can stage a protest/demonstration/rally. TV loves protests, events that have something to see, and a lot of random people for them to talk to. 4) It has to be EASY to cover. You are not going to get a reporter in Peoria, Illinois to do an investigative piece on Scientology. They have a lot to do, and a short time to do it in. If you make it easy on them, they will be a lot more likely to cover you. Don't think of a TV reporter as a reporter, think of them as a news presenter. Sad but true. You have to expect them to be skeptical, and in a very big hurry. Try to have the people you want them to talk to at hand. Try to do your thing on low volume news days, like Saturday to Tuesday. By Wednesday so much news is happening you'll get lost in the shuffle. 5) Make it pay off. If you do convince a station to cover something, and they show up only to see 3 neckbeards with a few lovely signs and a case of Mountian Dew, you will never get a second of coverage. I send crews out every day multiple times to check stuff out. If it looks lame, we spray it in case someone shoots you, and move on to things that will make it on the air. In conclusion, the "Mention murder, it will get their attention!" is flat-out wrong. It'll just get the cops called on you. News is about local viewer appeal and relevancy. The most you'll accomplish is to get them to put news of your PROTEST on the air for 30-40 seconds, and try to get your message out that way. Yes they're hated, but this is exactly why PETA stages their ridiculous protests, they know how to get airtime, and if they get a few people to log onto their site and see what the fuss is about, mission accomplished.

I've been reading this thread and following the happenings all weekend, and it is spectacular to see co-operation on such a massive scale. I pitched this as a story to the show "Search Engine" on CBC radio (https://www.cbc.ca/searchengine) here in Canada, which deals specifically with the internet and how it is used. It's the kinda thing that is right up their alley, hopefully we'll get some more press in Canada and can kick these buggers out.

A lot of people don't leave because they'd have nowhere to go and sometimes have no real world skills and education (especially the second and third generation members) and no money. A group helping to house, employ, and provide emotional support and legal advice for the people who leave would be the best thing possible for these people.

I really liked the idea of having peacefully protests outside of CoS buildings with concerned family members of scientologists, until I thought about how that was a huge factor in Jim Jones deciding to pull the plug and have everyone die. Once members start asking questions and becoming worried about what they are being led into, the leaders will take more drastic actions. I don't see a way to get around that though.

It has to be really snappy, curiosity-inspiring, and not the sort of thing that comes across as "tinfoil hats". I think that anything to do with Legion and the We are Anonymous logo is brilliant for the general public (first image/logo is incredibly good) but we have to leave people to find out for themselves (would you support an organisation that committed treason is a very loaded question). I'd say don't even mention Scientology, it would be effective. We will not sit idly by. If we all take a stand. Right here. Right now. If we make it clear that we will not allow them to continue extorting their followers and continue to harass their critics and skeptics, then together, we can put an end to the suppression. Knowledge is free. And so are you. *the anon logo as usual* Put something to google in there, maybe chanology (loaded with issues due to ddos), Paulette Cooper or even just Lisa McPherson.

Anarchist posted:Thanks for the extra eyes, I left scientology lowercase because unlike Christianity/Judaism/Islam I don't consider it a capitol letter religion. I'd be more then happy to post the .psd if you know a place that actually lets you host them.

I've been following this thread from the beginning and i love the idea of raids. I'm going to be attending the one in Vancouver and handing out leaflets, so help spread the message. Just curious though, I'm new to Vancouver and I have no idea where I can get a Guy Fawkes mask, can anybody pm me with some places? thx. Go Anon.
