Speaking of The Fall, I also started off with the aforementioned best-of. If you like songs from a certain part of the album, find out which album they're on and buy the corresponding CD. For example, I liked "The Classical" and "Hip Priest" the most, so I bought "Hex Enduction Hour" next. If you like the more electronic songs, you could also look at hitting up Mark E Smith's project with the people from Mouse on Mars: Von Sudenfed. It's quite good, and it got reasonable reviews on Metacritic.

BTW, anyone know how good the Fall's latest CD is? I'm thinking of buying it.

Speaking of The Fall, Hex Enduction Hour is another excellent album (it's my personal favourite, although I like TNSG a lot as well). Getting 50K Fall Fans is probably the best way to get into them - it's what I did, and now I loving love The Fall. (Should probably listen to their later stuff more, though).

If anyone wants to get into latter-day Flaming Lips, be warned that At War With The Mystics and Embryonic sound terrible mixing-wise, especially the former. Heck, At War... was the catalyst for Nick Southall to write his Imperfect Sound Forever article. You can get them if you want, but be warned. There is *nothing* worse than buying an album and stopping halfway through because you got a crippling headache from the songs.

Re: Elbow.

Personally, I'm quite partial to Cast of Thousands because it has the first two songs I ever heard from them (Switching Off and Grace Under Pressure) (thank you Q magazine). Seldom Seen Kid is a good starting point (especially because it has one of their most popular songs, One Day Like This, at the end and it won the Mercury Prize, which is a big deal in Britain).

The only albums I haven't heard yet are Asleep In The Back and Build A Rocket Boys!, but I'm willing to remedy that.
