This Nation's Saving Grace is probably the most accessible actual album, but I'd recommend the compilation 50000 Fall fans Can't Be Wrong to begin with - it's an excellent summation of the first ten years or so of the band. Beware though, The Fall can get a bit addictive and as you say there's a lot of material out there.
