Can anyone recommend an air powered jack of some kind? My jack sucks and I already have a 26 gallon compressor, is there anything decent that isn't big dollars?

Actually rented a 2nd 24" breaker bar at AZ Saturday to pop a crankshaft bolt on an old Accord. Kid at the counter said I wouldn't be able to do it. Gave him a smug look on my face when I returned it on Sunday. 2 breakers, a pulley lock tool, 16 inches of extension, 1 jackstand, 3 paver blocks, and a 4 ft 3/4" piece of galv pipe is all it took.

Hahaha, tell me you got a picture of that. You probably had to stand on the roof of the house to use that setup.

I figured this would be an appropriate place to ask. Can anyone recommend some good Nitrile gloves? I used to get Gatorskins or something from Amazon, and they were fine, but ran out and everything I've tried since then suck. They are super thin and tear within minutes of use.

The spring flung it open with such force the blade cut my safety glasses in half (and sliced open the bridge of my nose) and when it landed the tool powered itself on again, dragged itself across my driveway and into the yard before it came unplugged.

I will never trust another HF product with an electric motor.

I figure I either go for that or the 2-stroke husky trimmer, but I think my yard is tame enough to get away with an electric trimmer.

I have the 20V version of that and have no complaints. Had it for over 2 years now. The charge lasts forever, I can easily do my (admittedly not huge) whole property twice on one battery.

But yes, just go into store, grab the bundle, grab the battery and it will check out for $99.99+89.99-89.99=~$105 Two tools, two normal batteries, one extended battery, charger, carrying bag. In my store they had one of those center aisle pylons filled with the bundles but I had to go hunt the battery out of the tool section, those weren't displayed.

Thank you! Got one of the last two kits at my local HD. They only had one 6ah battery left that looked like it'd been bought and returned ten times already, haha. No need for the big battery so I returned it also, two tools, two standard batteries and charger for barely over $50. Smoking deal.

I recently got a 20V blower suuuuuper cheap bare on eBay (like $20) to match the B&D trimmer I have, since it came with 2 batteries. It is super light and perfect for clearing the driveway and sidewalk of grass clippings after mowing. I'd never get rid of my corded blower for leaf duty, but for light work it is perfect.

This is partially "I want to learn about this", partially "I feel like this would be useful", and partially "I'm on my third harbor freight test light that doesn't work".

Also, totally inspired by South Main Auto - it looked like he uses something like this as test lights, albeit probably "more than one", rather than swapping bulbs.

Before I finished reading I was going to mention SMA. I think he just uses normal headlight/marker light sockets and swaps them as needed.

Welcome to the crew. I had a great opportunity to show off the high torque on a 1/2" bolt that my buddy and I could barely budge. Apply Milwaukee and it looked effortless. Even on a half used battery. That thing on a full battery may have snapped it in half.

Maybe it's time to get the stubby.

Here's a couple good pics showing the high torque, mid, and stubby, all in 1/2". I feel like its a sweet spot in size

Only thing I'll add to oil change chat, I like to crank the engine without starting to circulate the oil and build pressure. On older cars I yank the EFI fuse, most newer cars let you hold the gas to the floor while cranking and it won't start, it's a clear flood mode.

opengl

I fully acknowledge that it's likely pointless after an oil change but it makes me feel good :)

Though one of our cars I can't prefill the filter due to orientation so I suppose it helps there a bit.

Jack talk reminded me: I got a new driveway a couple years back, and promptly put several divots in the fresh asphalt with my jack and stands.

The stands are easy enough to remedy, I just put them on some wood. But the jack is heavy as hell and its super cumbersome to line it up on wood before jacking. Is there a better solution? I'm imagining some kind of caddy or something I can slip the front wheels on? I don't know. It's your typical HF jack:
