POSTER: M'self.
VEHICLE: 1997 Volvo 960
GOAL: Rebuild from a minor wreck for a winter/daily driver. Upgrade from existing daily driver.
DIFFICULTY: Moderate, but mostly bolt-on repairs. No actual frame damage anticipated.
COSTS: All I care about is that it comes out below retail, which is currently around $6k-8k according to autotrader. Edit: Finished cost was $6800 with $1850 in add-ons.

TIME: I started on December 6 '07 and finished April 8, '08. 38 hours of labor.
This project is DONE! here's the before shot,

And after:

Since I can't edit the archived project thread, the images are all dead. Sorry.

POSTER: Moi.
VEHICLE: 2004 Volvo C70 HPT convertible
GOAL: Rebuild from a wreck for a summer/fair weather cruiser.
DIFFICULTY: Moderate, mostly bolt-on repairs. No actual frame damage, but it did require paint.
COSTS: I scored big time. Got the car repaired for about half of retail, then splurged on suspension, wheels and stereo. Total cost just under $15k.

This project is done and I've been enjoying the crap out of the car. Before:

I guess this belongs in here too, now that it's really underway.

POSTER: I have this one friend and he calls me Dr. Dobler.
VEHICLE: 2004 Volvo C70 HPT convertible
GOAL: 5 speed auto to 5 speed manual
DIFFICULTY: Meh, I expect this to be not too terrible, maybe 2 solid weeks of work at 2-3 hours a night with maybe a hard weekend push in there somewhere.
COSTS: Relatively speaking this is expensive, in the ballpark of $3500. 3 pieces, all just over a grand each. 1) Raw transmission cost, 2) ECU upgrade to get rid of the auto transmission code and not throw a CEL (stupid modern cars), and 3) new consumables like cylinders, seals, and clutch/flywheel/pressure plate.

POSTER: Lloyd
VEHICLE: 2001 Volvo V70 Ham Hauler
GOAL:Darth Volvo, blacked out and mean as hell. I want an R wagon but I don't want the AWD hassles and I do want suspension upgradeability. Rebuild from a minor wreck for a winter/daily driver. Upgrade from existing daily driver.
DIFFICULTY: Moderate, bolt-on repairs. No actual frame damage anticipated. More electronics than usual, which will be annoying.
COSTS: All I care about is that it comes out below retail, which is currently around $6k-8k according to autotrader. I just hope this one is cheaper than my last one. Edit: Costs to get it back on the road came to $6450. Not awesome but not a money loser either.
LINK: http://forums.somethingawful.com/sh...hreadid=3103688
TIME: I started on March 23 '09. Got it on the road April 24, got plates May 27th.
Here's the before shot:

Here it is back on the road. Plenty more mods coming.

SA project thread is archived so I can't update the images but it's still alive on swedespeed. Here's the link: http://forums.swedespeed.com/showth...ject-01-V70-T5M

Forgot to add this 2 years ago when I got the car!

Poster: Midlife Crisis LloydDobler
Vehicle: 1966 Volvo 122s (Amazon)
Goal: Partial sleeper with original body, original interior redone in leather, but modern wheels and a monster T5 motor. First steps are bringing it back to tip top condition in suspension/brakes/electrical, second steps are drivetrain swap related, final step will be full bodywork and paint to show quality.
Difficulty: It oughta run the gamut.
Costs: Bought for $4500, spent an additional $4000 so far, depending on how much I spend on bodywork and chrome it could hit $20k eventually.

I'm a moron and let that thread go to archives, so I'll do a few minor updates over on swedespeed, then I'll start a new thread once I dig in to the motor swap. Here's the swedespeed thread:

As it sits now, with tons of work done under the surface:
