I'm an idiot that didn't investigate NAS-Lites2 HCL before attempting to install it on a Poweredge 860 w/ Perc 5i controller. If anyone wants to buy my NasLite-2 license, let me know. I also tried Openfiler and had nothing but problems, so I gave in and Samba'd it, which of course took 4 minutes to configure. I have no doubt that either could have worked with enough configurigging, but I was tired of dealing with it at that point.
