Thanks for the DNS-323 recommendation. It's all sorts of amazing ranging from the ease of setup to the ease of customization. If it wasn't for the hacking to get NFS to work I would have been backing up within 20 minutes of opening it.

Even when I use one drive at a time it still gives me the same error. I can't even check the drives for errors because it fails right when it starts. I believe part of the problem was hotplug. I swapped the drives, formatted one at a time, and was ok.
