Found a two year newer car (2019) with 12,000 fewer miles for about $4000 more. I guess it's been the dealerships "loaner car" Basically brand-new, way less than 10,000 miles. The last BMW I bought was 13 years old and had closer to 135,000 miles and ran like a top so not sure if this matters Looking at this one vs the 2017 5 series because it has "active cruise control" as well as active lane keeping (poor man's autopilot?) and collision avoidance etc We live in the crowded part of the San Francisco bay area, and my mother in law lives about an hour's drive away in far north bay... How good is active cruise control, and the lane keeping, really? Looks like it works all the way down to 18mph. We rented a Toyota last year and drove from Seattle to the California border and back with a similar system, I guess they include these features for free as standard. I was really surprised at how well it worked, and SIGNIFICANT decrease in mental load while driving. I was able to drive 5 hours on I-5, then get out of the car and felt refreshed and ready to go, zero fatigue at all, even though I hadn't ever driven on that stretch of road ever before in my life, and it had been raining on and off the whole time TL;DR how good is active cruise control with stop & go, and is it worth $4000 on a car we plan on keeping for 6-10 years Hadlock fucked around with this message at 23:17 on Aug 11, 2020 |

Yeah my lawyer is literally the only practicing lawyer in this rural county of Oregon. He told me that he would prefer to do murders but he has to take whatever cases are available. Speaking of police, crossposting this from the dashcam thread from a while backfknlo posted:I just had a cop yell at me to slow down and then he just kept going on his way. You can't hear it in the video because the mic on my camera makes it sound like I'm listening to the music way louder than I am and you might need to turn the volume down because of that. Having a cop yell at me to slow down was a first for me.

Many years ago I was going way too fast on the highway when I saw a highway patrol car with its lights on in my rear view mirror. I had an “oh poo poo” moment and started to pull over. The police car sped passed me and as it did the officer turned to look at me and slowly shook his head before continuing on.
