I just realized that even though the M3 says "Starting at $62,000 MSRP", it's literally impossible to spec out the M3 like that on the website. :psyduck:

Isn't that illegal?

How can they advertise "As low as $62K" then? They may as well advertise "As low as free!*"

*not really.

0 interest. I tried to teach her and she was fine in the parking lot, but as soon as we came to a stop sign, she panicks, stalls the car and starts crying. I've never been able to convince her to try again.

That's with full 250/500/100 liability, 250/500/100 underinsured, and low deductible comp & collision. I looked into raising the deductibles but it saves nearly zero. Maybe I should drop collision at this point, though...

And that's after it went up a bit after changing zip codes.

Quoting my existing policy on a 2009 135i actually goes down $9/6mo

That's a poo poo ton for a 16 year old car.

Also, insurance rates are based on how likely the insurance company is going to have to pay out for that car. For an Aston Martin, most issues are going to be maintenance related, so not the insurance company's problem. And it's likely to spend most of its time not being driven much, and parked in a garage or somewhere else safe. So the insurance company won't have to spend a bunch of money on Aston Martins being crashed. Whereas everyone has a 3 series and they are parking them on the street, or in sketchy parking lots, and driving them every day, so it's more likely that they will get into a situation that requires the insurance company to pay out.

The thing I found truly crazy is I priced out a brand new M4, and the insurance on that would be less than my Focus RS. But an M5 would be like double.

KillHour

You can CPO a car that's been in an accident as long as it can be repaired to factory specifications - which means not even a nick on the frame. Replacing a quarter panel doesn't affect the car in an appreciable way.

Apparently a lot of people got really upset when they found out they were not entitled to a luxury courtesy car despite having what they perceived as a luxury brand.

Honestly the 116d must be a money printer for BMW.

Considering the M4 is 7 series money and the M5 comp is decked-out m840 grand coupe money, I'd assume they generally count as well, no?
