It was one of the most popular books among boys my age, its about a kid and his friends who learn about all different types of codes, both made up and ones that are used in real life, all over the place; and how to decode them. Even though it came out in freakin' 1963, I'm sure your kid would be into it, even though it is a little dated. Come to think of it, I'd definitely read it again if I ever found it...
