I know that it's terrible for me to post and then not update, but I forgot to point out why this update is going to take forever - I'm on holiday right now and I don't have Photoshop on my Macbook, or my tablet for that matter. It'll be another week. Sorry for the holdup, everyone!

Your head feels fuzzy and your arm hurts, but you prepare to deliver an order. However, your hold on Dr. Meadowfields seems to be slipping...desperately, you command him to shut down Protobot, but he just laughs at you. He says his plans are finally coming to fruition. Soon, he will have a hold on the minds of every child he's treated and every employee he's had...and they will form an army, working from within to bring the country under his control. He doesn't know why you are being so problematic, but it seems that you are the only one to offer much resistance. Your resistance, though, is slipping too. You can hear a voice murmuring in your ear, telling you to give in to the Doctor's demands, and your control is falling away... Your arm might not work any more. You have no allies. Your only weapon is the syringe you found in your room, and you don't know if Meadowfields has an organic body. Whatever you choose to do now, it may be the last decision you are ever able to make. Your options: Good luck. We have now progressed to Voting: Round 2 This has gone in many more directions than I anticipated, so I'm skimming what seem to be the most popular options and turning it into a regular 1/2/3 vote: One: Stab the doctor with the syringe, then attempt to disable Protobot. Two: Attempt to remove your arm, thus severing your link with Protobot. Three: Try to talk/bluff your way out of this situation, perhaps by suggesting that you have other modifications that he doesn't know about, or by claiming that you are of more use to him as something other than a brainwashed zombie. Attack the protobot. It's the root of the problems. If it goes down, you win.

Agreed. That robo-arm should be pretty strong; Attack the Protobot!

Pull out those slot things on the back of protobot's neck. That's most likely where whatever programming has been put into him has gone. Afterwards, shove protobot into Meadowfields, hopefully knocking him down, and then syringe him.

We have a robot arm, and protobot has a scrawny neck.

We won't be able to inject Meadowfields with the robot there. The syringe won't work on a robot. Our arm's not mind controlling anymore, and it's never been super strong. Adam and his sister are our allies. It was found in our room, so it must have been meant for us, but what is it? It can't be the mind control substance as it wouldn't be left lying around, and it wouldn't be full. It has to be some kind of emergency antidote, to be kept at the ready. Something to counter the mind control process were it to go wrong. It's a big risk, but desparate times and all that. Pigtails should inject herself with the syringe.

Retreat would be useless if the protobot's range is large enough to affect the whole area. Talking obviously isn't going to work, and our only weapon is our syringe which probably doesn't affect machines. Using the syringe on Meadowfields probably wouldn't do much of anything to the protobot, and the arm isn't working, and the bad guys have a gun anyway. The only thing I can think to do is to try to bludgeon the protobot with our metal arm. EDIT: Oh yeah that's right Thallium. Okay screw that then. Attack protobot with the robot arm. Swear allegiance to the good doctor and join his army, and join in his reign of terror on the country - at least you get power! And maybe a chainsaw arm?

Something to remember - We used the syringe on Dr. Stratford a while ago and it knocked him out but had no other effects that we are aware of.

Stab the syringe into the blue jewel thing on protobot's head.

# ? Jul 5, 2008 18:12 |
Run away. Get out of range of the protobot and then search for a way to take it out.

58 some pages and we are still talking about the chainsaw arm, awesome. I contributed nicely. Here's what we are going to do, the girl lets out a psychic scream breaking the other children from the mad man's hold somehow due to their sheer human will and then they wreck poo poo. there we go.

Use blue arm on robot while running away. Maybe the two mind-control waves will feedback and short something out.

Thallium posted:Something to remember - We used the syringe on Dr. Stratford a while ago and it knocked him out but had no other effects that we are aware of. That we were aware of. Dr. Stratford may not have been mind controlled. If we can counter Meadowfields' mind control we may regain control of our arm. The mind control also may invove stimulants, where else are we getting all this energy? How about the blue stuff? It might not even knock us out.

Think of Adam and his sister to strengthen your resolve, and use the remote control. Then punch whoever is nearest to you.

The doc has a gun and seems to be at least partially robotic. His son is protected by him and the robot. The robot will soon have total control over you and our friends are incapacitated. And we know this: the syringe can be used once more to put someone to a deep sleep. And the protobot was activated by pressing a button on the back of its neck (on page55). So I guess we'd have three somewhat reasonable options: 1) Attack the doctors' son with the syringe - we risk getting shot or stopped by the robot 2) Use the syringe on ourselves - therefore we'll be captured and maybe get to escape again. Or we'll be just killed. 3) Try to deactivate the bot by pressing the button on its neck and risk getting shot. Of these I'd pick option 3.

Inject ourself. It has to do something, and it's unlikely they had lethal knock-out drugs in our bedside cabinet.

Maumacto posted:58 some pages and we are still talking about the chainsaw arm, awesome. I contributed nicely. This. We can try this without the doctor knowing. If our arm doesn't work anymore and thus this plan doesn't work anymore, we've got to try to deactivate the protobot by going for the switch on the back of it's neck. We should've gotten the red arm. edit: We learned early on the robot arm does not indicate super strength arm, guys. We can't attack it and expect to defeat it in one blow.

Attack Meadowfields! Meadowfields is the main bad guy here. What if he escapes? He'll just build another robot and mind-control the populace again. All our new friends! All the innocent children! The free-thought of everyone in the country! It's all at risk and we're the only one who can stop it! The pressure! We are a weak little child, how can we ever hope to defeat a robot, two grown men and maybe even the two people you just made friends with? It may be dangerous, we may not survive, but godammit, a lot of people's lives are at risk The rage we feel at the situation and our own helplessness! If only there were a way to become stronger! If only there were a way to overpower them! The thought of losing Adam, Robo McNicelady and all hope of finding out who we truly are! Our very own name! It rages us to the point of no return! But yes! That's the way! We felt it once before when Girly McSpiderblades tore up Adam's back! It's the way we can become strong! Strong enough to defeat the robot! Strong enough to Defeat Meadowfields and his creepy son! Strong enough to save the country, even at the cost of our own life! Desperate times call for desperate measures. ENGAGE THE BERSERKER MODE. So it's come down to this: ONE decision. Running? Not a chance - if the protobot is intended to galvanize all of his past patients and staff into an army it'll have massive range. Attacking the bot? Likely to fail - she's losing control over her own mind and isn't a melee machine to begin with. Attacking Meadowfield? Also likely to fail - he's bigger/stronger and likely to be both armed and protected by protobot. Needling Meadowfield? Depends on whether she can do so without the bot intervening - if it does she fails and it will gain control over her as well. If she does manage to inject him the bot's still active, so the question becomes whether she can shut it down with doc out of the way, and do so before falling to its signal. Using the "suggestion" ray on the bot? This one has potential in that it might overload the bot or burn out its own takeover signal transmitter. The question then becomes whether the arm will work well enough for long enough, and Thallium said it might already be inoperative. And then there's the good(?) doctor standing there, and he'll need to be "handled." (Might be a good use for that syringe once ptoto's not a problem.) Needling herself? This one also has potential in that she could knock out the organic parts of her nervous system before succumbing to the protobot, hopefully until protobot stops transmitting its takeover signal. However, this approach has risks as well - one, she'd be defenseless in a whole room full of hostiles; and two, there's no guarantee that protobot will ever stop transitting until shut down so when she awakens she'll be in at best the same situation, or more likely a far worse position to effect change. My take: Testfire the arm at protobot, and if it works, blast it with the suggestion ray at max power for as long as possible. Then, needle the doctor (prefereably in the left nut). If the arm's already offline, needle the doctor while you still can.

But can we control the berserker mode? It kicked in when we thought Adam was killed, does something similar have to happen to activate it again? And can the protobot override that like it did the mind control function?

I just had a thought. What if engaging the berserker mode super-powers the hypno harm? We can override and take over the protobot, and thus turn Meadowfields's own plans against him and control the robotisized people ourselves! Edit: EvilDonald posted:But can we control the berserker mode? The protobot's the culmination of the doctors' work, so it's your ultimate bargaining chip. Try to take the protobot hostage somehow: threaten its well-being.

Engage berserker mode! If that doesn't work, then just attack the robot. The time has come for an all-out attack.

Well, the way I see it, the stuff in the syringe is one of three things. 1. It's a sedative. If we inject ourselves with it, we'll simply pass out. Worst case scenario, this one. We'll have accomplished nothing. 2. It's an antidote. If we use it, we could cancel out Meadowfields' mind control processes, possibly regain control of the arm, and have our full faculties back. Upside, we may get the arm back. Downside, we may lose berserker mode, we'll just be a standard model little girl. 3. It's Meadowfields' mind control serum. If we use it, we could become one of his mirmadons. However, we also may gain control of berserker mode. Upside, we gain berserker mode, and Meadowfields, thinking he's won, instructs the robot to stand down. Downside, we become a robot. It seems pretty 50/50 to me, and I don't think we can overpower the robot or Meadowfields, so attacking them is useless as we stand now. If we want to have berserker mode, the only way I see to get it is to either inject ourselves, or for something horrible to happen to either Adam or his sister. I still say we inject ourselves.
