I have a strict rule in my house of not listening to Titus Jones' power hour mashup mixes until I can get people together to actually do the power hour. The first half of it is great, the second will need some more study due to premiering it through a blur of beer and time compression. Titus really does excel at the short format.

Those were my thoughts exactly when it dropped. The first half remains memorable after several listens but I wouldn't recognize the second if I heard it. Also, is Lewis Wake a proflic rip-off artists of other mashers or is my brain mush? I swear every album he drops includes a couple of tracks that I swear I heard years ago.

There are some great albums in Mashups but seriously I don't know if anything holds a candle to Feed the Animals. I'm doing some poo poo-boring data entry and I can just turn off and jam to it li ke nothing else.

It all depends on your preferences, honestly. Like my pop music exposure basically stopped 15-20 years ago, so I’m biased towards older stuff (production wise). I still like to try and consume everything I can because…law of averages, I guess?

Just spent like 2 hours chasing an obscure mix from Santastic II because I heard something I thought would mix well. I finally found but realized no one would give a single gently caress  It kills me to go back and wonder what the gently caress happened to my library over the years. I put a shitload of time into it and now I come up with great tracks that are just missing.

I was slacking and am only now getting to my 2022 Year End Mashups List. I suspect "I'm Good (Blue)" will feature in all these. DJs From Mars with a strong entry as usual. Starts off pretty mellow, but that might just be the music from the year. Even the drop after "Unholy" felt like it should have hit harder. That said, they're trying to tell a narrative, which I do appreciate in a bunch of songs not designed to fit together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gh7B-nTvRPc DJ Earworm, still going pretty strong. Pretty sure it was one of their first year end mashups that got me keeping track of the year enders. But, like recent Earworm jams, it isn't bad it just isn't outstanding in any way. I think "Running up that Hill" gets in on a technicality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0py9fkak8tU Robin Skouteris' entry, probably my standout favorite so far. It's longer by far than the previous two, so it can build and hit in the right spots while letting it breathe in others. First time we've heard "I ain't worried" I think, which is surprising given how big a hit Maverick was. Third time we've seen "You know it's not the same as it was...as it was...etc" which beats my "I'm Good" prediction. Longer, so like Robin Skouteris' it's broken into chapters of sorts, which really helps. Going heavy on Stranger Things, I aint mad. At least this oen puts a little english onto "As it was". It was a weird Christmas season and I just totally forgot to look for these. It's mostly reinforcing my opinion that popular music in 2022 was not for me. None of these are grabbing me in the way they regularly did in previous years, and they all feel like they're making the best of a pretty boring selection, and end up hitting a lot of the same notes just because there isn't a whole lot to work with. Rare miss from Skouteris for me, I think they way he's split it out has ended up with whole sections I just don't care about. Anyway, here's another. Has anyone else here tried messing around with rave.dj? Put youtube videos in, get mashups out. It's extremely inconsistent -- I'd say about 2/3 of the time outputs unlistenable garbage -- and even when it figures out what to do, it's not as good as human-made mashups. But I've built up a handful of tracks I enjoy listening to regardless:
