Supposedly they just took a metal airsoft frame and slapped a 10/22 inside of that 249.

So if you can find the m249 metal airsoft that would save you money on getting it set up.

Uh not really, every Airsoft m249 I can think of costs over 500 dollars.

A compartment in some types of firearms, often a small detachable box, in which cartridges are held to be fed into the firing chamber.

Belts don't count. They, by definition, are not a magazine.

Mind you, this isn't just speculation. I know this because TNW Firearms legally and regularly sell their semiauto M1919s and MG42s to Californians.

Maybe you can only have ten rounds linked at a time

Making a 10/22 belt would probably be the hardest part of the whole affair.

I also hate to be a wet blanket about it (I just closed Doom II, in fact), but it looks like he's rigging the things up to one trigger. If so, isn't one of the basic BATFE definitions of a machinegun that two or more rounds are expended for every one pull of the trigger?

This is of course assuming that he's building the thing to fire two rounds with one trigger pull, and if he isn't, why is he loving bothering?

It doesn't count if the action is manually operated. If this were illegal, double barrels with separate triggers would also be.

This is kind of related: http://gatlingguns.com/atf.htm

Yes. In fact one of their representatives specifically said a double-barrel is a machine gun if both barrels fire with one trigger pull.

US v Olofson

Holy poo poo. HOLY poo poo!

Reading up on this case, I take it that my 40 year old, tube-fed, .22 is then a dangerous, infant-slaughtering machine gun when it gets hot...

How does this kind of ruling happen? A man may be going to rape-me-in-the-rear end prison for almost three years because of a weapon's MALFUNCTION. All the while the NRA just sits idly by and lets it happen... Hell I don't even remember reading it about it here.

Oh sure, the dude was just an idiot ARFCOMer who did do some some down right stupid poo poo before the trial; like CCW without a permit, use a lovely lawyer and a whole bunch of other stuff, but BATFE acted in a manner that could only be described as criminal.

87 pages of ARFCOM thread

Edit: Okay I'm derailing pretty heavily here and this really deserves it's own thread, but I'm too lazy to condense it down to a cliff notes version...

On the original subject of the super shotgun, the solution is simple: use two triggers set right next to each other. Technically that would be two trigger pulls and thus, legally safe.

In think that may just be a casual hold, but pinky-free grips are not uncommon. I've read that the pinky supposedly unbalances the gun by putting unnecessary pressure on the bottom of the grip, possibly causing you to shot low. I can't say I take too much stock in it, though.
