Recently I discovered Chosen on Crackle. If you're a fan of Milo Ventimiglia definitely check it out; it's about this massive conspiracy to have people kill each other in the name of the Game. (The Game being, 'kill the random stranger whose name and picture you just received; you have until the expiration date at the bottom of the photo---if you don't we'll abduct and kill your loved ones'.)

Plus each episode is twenty minutes and change, so it goes fast.

The football wasn't the point though---I honestly don't see how a show centered purely on football could be anything but crashingly boring.

So I've seen pretty much everything HBO has had to offer -- which recentish series should I see now?

House of Cards?
Fargo?
Homeland? (never seen any of it)
The Good Wife?
Walking Dead? (Saw a couple of episodes of S1, wasn't too impressed)
Arrow?
something else?

Seen Spartacus, Downton Abbey, OITNB as far as some popular suggestions go

If you have Netflix, Peaky Blinders is pretty good.

I never thought she was hot in any way shape or form. I think, in the show's whole "western" thing, she's the last southern belle, with all the 'southern hospitality' style formality. Which makes her the leading lady. In this way, that she's dirty white trash but sticks to the "old code"; particularly while remaining willing to use violence, if she deems it necessary... she was Rayland's counterpart from the first episode.

e: winona and rachel can get it tho

Yes, it absolutely is. Season 2 was really strange and off-target but it gets much better from there.

I've been watching a Danish crime procedural called Rejseholdet (Unit One). I checked it out because one of the main cops is played by Mads Mikkelsen, but I'm liking it outside of that as well and will probably watch the whole thing. I was basically raised on procedurals, my mom loves them, so it's pretty cool to see the differences between a Danish and American crime show - for one thing, the killer-of-the-week, when finally arrested, is almost always treated very compassionately by the cops, which is interesting/depressing. It also reminds me slightly of The Fall in that the unit boss is a woman who deals with latent background sexism but that's not the main focus of the show.

(Also young Mads Mikkelsen can get it)

Where did you find to watch it in the US? Is it out on DVD? And is any of the dialogue in English or are there subtitles?

Also, Mads Mikkelsen can get it at any age IMO.

Just finished Broadchurch. Holy hell. I feel like it ended at a good place but at the same time I want more. I want to know if Maggie and Jocelyn finally got together officially and how the Ashworths' trials went. Would they be tried separately or at the same time? I don't know how British law works! Also what's with the wigs? That just looks silly.

Was it vigilante justice though? I didn't get the sense that Kenny was actually looking at kids, they just manipulated events to make it seem like he was (he was watching sexy grown women on TV which prompted him to go wank). Hector didn't actually cheat on his wife, he was just catfished. The other guy he met at the end admitted he was a pedo, but Kenny seemed confused by the assertion that he was doing the same. So is the moral of the story "don't masturbate"? Or "cover your camera"? Or "don't let your sister take your laptop"? Or "don't do things anonymous people tell you to do"? The message, if there is one, is unclear, so it comes off as "lol you thought there was an ending? prankd".

You're supposed to think it's kids, given his interaction with the little girl at the restaurant.

So being nice to a kid who forgot her toy = pedophile, but getting visibly turned on by an adult woman on TV and then immediately going upstairs to masturbate doesn't = liking adults in porn? The video was just of him jacking it, not what he was looking at. So I don't really buy that, but anyway my statement wasn't really about what my interpretation of it was, just that I often find the endings unsatisfying.

To be fair, despite its really grim outcome, Hated in the Nation had an ending with a feeling of closure. You don't fully see what happens, but it's enough, which is what I want more often. I was actually saying as I watched it that if they'd left it at Blue's "suicide" it would feel like a typical episode, but instead they went further and I enjoyed that. Had they not, that would be the kind of unsatisfied feeling I've been referring to.

What makes you think it was adult women? There's literally no indication of that....
