He's still annoying but he's not deliberately an rear end in a top hat anymore. Sort of endearingly annoying vs obnoxiously so.

I kinda like Van Helsing. Tuned in for campy schlock but after a slow start it's now fairly entertaining.

Yeah light viewing but enjoyable. I just came off Falling Skies and the Walking Dead so if things happen and I don't actively hate the main cast I'm happy.
