There's an exception to the complete hazmat rules if you're shipping a 'Limited Quantity' of ammunition.

e: To be clear, the law didn't change, UPS's policy for the section of the law under which they ship ammunition changed.

The January 1st change was about the elimination of the ORD-M classification. Everything under 50 cal falls under limited quantity, and you can ship up to 66lbs in a single package. 50 cal has also always been hazmat/a special case, I just didn't mention it because it never really comes up.

"To qualify as Cartridges, small arms "Limited Quantity", ammunition must be:

Ammunition that does not exceed 12.7 mm (50 caliber or 0.5 inch) for rifle or pistol cartridges or 8 gauge for shotgun shells"

To be specific, when shipping ammo, in the description you need to put: "500rds 9mm small arms ammo LTD QTY" (Obviously changing quantity and caliber as needed). You'll also need the limited quantity sticker on one side or top of the package, although some places prefer two sides. You can just print it off online and attach with clear tape.

This. I have abused multiples of each over the last 15 years and they're basically the only brands I have any loyalty to whatsoever.

Caveat: the absolute base level cheapest Lenovos don't have USB C ports which is almost inexplicable.

Lenovo hardware is alright, in theory, but there are significantly cheaper ways to inject Chinese spyware into your life.

I've been very happy with Acer and Asus laptops and basically don't look at any other brands anymore.
HP quality control went to hell years ago and Dell has been consistently making garbage from whatever parts they can get for the cheapest at any given moment for at least the past decade.
(Note: That doesn't apply to Dell's business class offerings, but that's a whole other ball of wax.)

I did IT for small business and residential for 14 years and then took a corp job about 3 years ago.

The difference between consumer and business laptops is night and day.

We were running that model of HP up until last year whem we switched to G5 models and they are durable and very easy to repair.

The G1 model video drivers don't work under windows 10 and cause random blue screens but the g2 and up were great. The only thing I do not like about the HP elite books is they always have that giant wonky card reader thing. Pretty sure it's used for government level security which is likely a large part of their business laptop customer base but that stupid slot is mandatory and an SD slot is optional for some reason...

Fun fact about those integrated SmartCard readers: If you press your wrist on the plastic over the reader (as you might do if you were say...typing) and the plastic flexes, the reader moves relative to the card, severs the connection, and you're locked out just like if you'd pulled your card out to step away from your computer.
I ended up having to use an external card reader to be able to compose an entire e-mail without having to log back in repeatedly.

is this thing working

https://www.dellrefurbished.com/laptops is always worth a look. Sometimes they list things together and you can find something with some better hardware for similar pricing. I got a 13" one 4 years ago with a 500GB SSD, 1080p touchscreen, sim card slot etc for cheap that was listed with a bunch of similar models with none of the same features.

The trick is buying a business machine, which shunts you over to an entirely different support department due to hardware alone.

A decade ago, Dell's consumer products made up only something like 17% of their sales. (It might have been less.) Their business products are what they give a poo poo about.

Dell did me dirty as gently caress with the job, so I always feel weird about recommending them. But if you're giving them money, buy a business product.

They're pretty good. I've got a 9550, my wife has a 9750. Hers has some odd power issues and shuts off randomly under heavy load. Mine has had bluetooth issues since day 1.

Regardless, they're solid machines with great build quality, good keyboards, and good touchpads.

The Dell docking stations are universally bad with USB-C. If you want a dock, don't get the 1-cable USB-C version.

It also means they'll do most of any service in-house so you don't have to go to the hassle of having a tech come to your house, or worse, having to send it somewhere.

They tend to use middle-shelf equipment. It's still lightyears better than most "lowest bidder" OEMs.

I hate to admit it, but Amazon is loving essential in my household. But the thing that irritates me is that we will typically make a weekly order on Monday, grouping everything into one lot. If it isn't anything urgent, we will say it can all be shipped together in an attempt to keep people needing to do twenty-eight picks shipped in just as many packages.

But no matter what, it will end up being broken into a billion smaller orders delivered every day of the week.

(We do recycle every single box through Ebay, at least.)
