You have both an Xbox360 AND a PS3 at your office cubicle which you have floored with (admittedly fake) wood flooring? I envy you (read: want to kill you and take your job).

Give teleport a try. I have it on my eMac, MBP, and unibody MacBook. It operates as a kind of software kvm. linky: http://osx.iusethis.com/app/teleport

Martytoof posted:...and you can drag small files back and forth between computers. In theory you can drag big files back and forth too. It just does a copy command between the two machines. I don't recommend this, though. I had to kill it once when I accidentally dragged a 4gb .iso from one machine to another (I was trying to drag it onto a dock icon). I've used synergy+ a few times but I really dig the integration into system preferences and clipboard syncing is really handy. On topic: Vanguard, you should space your satellite speakers around your workspace/room more. As set up you're going to get muddier sound and aren't benefiting from the multiple channels. If you really don't have a place for the rear speakers, consider leaving them disconnected. (Nice Buddy Christ, btw)

drat you grandpappy! posted:I am going to put screws to mount my xbox power supply under the desk, and I want to make it removable in case I wanna bring my 360 somewhere, does anyone know if I can use a regular PC power cable to power it, so I dont have to have the 360s power cable loose in back of my desk? Yes, you can use a standard PC power cable to power the 360's power brick since the former is an IEC C13 connector and the latter has an IEC C18 which work together. More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEC_connector

PopeOnARope posted:Depends on the country and the brick. In Canada, it accepts a C13, albeit one which is notched. You could notch a standard cable, I suppose... Huh. Didn't know that. I can't see a good reason for them to change out the power brick between Canadian and American versions (or that there were even different Canadian and American versions at all). Notching a standard C13 wouldn't really impair the functionality of the cable unless it was a really lovely low-rent affair. ragzilla posted:That notch designates C15/C16 which is extended temperature range. Probably because those bricks, like the rest of the 360, get really loving hot really loving fast. But it still hasn't melted the non-standard cord I'm using with mine (needed a longer cord). Grandpappy, how are you running your cables together/tying them? If you've just got them loosely held, you can just pull that one DVI cable and put it closer to the top of the stack or run it separately. If you zip-tied it, you're probably going to have to cut the ties and re-do the wires, keeping the DVI's length in mind. Or you could do some nasty poo poo with dvi-vga adapters and their inverse.

Does synergy still break catastrophically if you take one of the computers away? I remember trying to run it between my desktop and my MacBook years ago and every time I took my laptop to work, I'd have to set it up again when I got home.

I got my current desk for $25 and it's one of those big solid wood government-issue-type desks from the 50s (kinda like a tanker desk made from wood). Moving it is... challenging.

Out of curiosity, what's the point of having a gigantic mousepad? Having one that goes under and in front of and to the other side of a keyboard doesn't make much sense to me but I use a trackball so maybe I'm just missing something.
