necrobobsledder posted:I had a L5-S1 herniated disc and have been an old man since 17. My spine specialist / surgeon recommended a stool and sitting on the edge instead of some fancy "ergonomic" chair even for the 10+ hours I sit. I used to re-injure my back every other year with different chairs and even tried a stupid ball (too easy to slouch on those) but haven't had a problem since I switched to a stool. I figured there was a good reason for it but that sucks. Sorry dude.

That's an odd choice for a desk chair

f.lux is great and there really aren't any super compelling reasons to not use it. If you need color accuracy, just disable it for a bit.

But yeah, it's all marketing.

They were both funded and/or conducted by Japanese companies that sell lighting products. But good job getting snowed by a pile of irrelevant study titles. Yeah they sure showed me. I should ask for a refund on my $0 invested and years of improved sleep.

The Lord Bude posted:The harmful effects of blue light are a major subject of research right now, and there is actually a growing consensus among optometrists that blue light is actually damaging to the health of your eyes, in addition to its effect on your ability to sleep. pfft that sounds like a vast conspiracy from the f.lux cabal to me

What desk? I don't see any desk.

The Lord Bude posted:Those super ergonomic chairs are great if you use your computer in a traditional work like way; siting up with your feet on the floor and typing at a keyboard but they loving suck if you spend extended hours at your computer just playing video games and watching netflix. I like to sit semi reclined with my feet up on the desk or a footstool and there's no lower back support and the downward angle of the seat means your arse keeps slipping. The back reclines but the seat doesn't tip back with it. I have an Embody and sit like that a lot and it has tons of lower back support and moves with me. I mean, it does cost a small fortune, but it's basically the perfect desk chair.

The Lord Bude posted:I don't think it's for me - it doesn't seem like the seat of the chair tilts back - in the video even when the guy was reclining the seat stayed parallel to the floor, which is not what I want. I doubt there are going to be more than a handful of task chairs that do that because, well, you don't want that. Correct posture/ergonomics for sitting for long periods of time at a desk aren't exactly a mystery these days. I think you're looking for two chairs in one (recliner and task chair) and that either doesn't exist or is going to do both things poorly. e: Just did some testing, the seat does recline a bit on this thing when leaning back.

I don't know how people can sit so close to such huge monitors and not get eye strain and/or neck pain from having to look around that giant panel

Move it to the office and replace with, I dunno, a chest of drawers or a small sitting area. Bedrooms shouldn't have full on battlestations if you have space elsewhere. Sleeping and banging.

Deviant posted:The office is where all the above stuff happens and it does not have room for any additional furniture. I specifically have my noisy work poo poo over there so it's seperated from the bedroom. Your point is taken, but it's just not going to happen at this time. Maybe eventually if one of my tenants moves out I'll take their room back for myself. From the wording of your post it seemed like you had room in your office for it. But yes if that's not an option then like our other buddy said, clean it up, wall art, some plants, small chest of drawers next to it, etc.

Real curious what this goober "uses" all that real estate for. The construction and layout is pretty impressive but like what can you possibly be doing with all that space that wouldn't just cause you to be DrSteveBrule.gif all day and endlessly craning your neck to see the far reaches of that 85" monitor three feet in front of your face

Then I have notes, contacts, to do's stocks some control panels on the lower screens, again that never get obscured. The screens are tilted at just the perfect angle. fwiw
