I don't remember if I posted this before but is my only-option for a large-flat-desk the Galant series from Ikea? It looks great and all but I'm just surprised they're only place offering something in this kind of style/price.

Yup. It's somewhat expensive but the cable management behind the desk is really cool.

Really? I can't find anything like that on staples, office max or office depot.

One thing I've notice is the table has a lot of depth, plus there's the raised portion which is really convenient as you don't have monitors taking up desk space so you can throw papers, books whatever under it.

This table doesn't appear to be on their site either.

The table is bought at a (originally) Danish company called Jysk - they do furniture and stuff for outfitting ones bedroom/workroom/house.

Don't buy the cheap monitor arms, if you want one, you're going to have to shell out for an Egotron. The rest just have too much give, at least for my 2001wfp.

I've been eying a few things on Legare Furniture and I'm trying to figure this out if I want this over something like a Ikea Galant. And, would I'd like a 72" straight desk or a L-Corner Desk?

I bought a cheap shelf from Ikea along with some cheap legs to make a desk-on-desk monitor stand. Keeps my monitors elevated about 8" and gives me a place to shove my keyboard and mouse if I need extra space on the desk for some reason. The best part is that the desk is so big that I'm able to fit an elevated shelf with two 22" monitors on it and still have room for a bookshelf speaker to the left and right of the shelf.

The computer holder is also really nice and sturdy as gently caress.

It's height adjustable, and also offers larger expandability with different corners and inserts. There is the option to get those accessories after the fact should it be needed, or desired. Galants tend to outpace competing alternatives found elsewhere, at least for the relative price point that you'd get it at.

Despite how cheap particle board often is, its not the case here at all. The galants surface is treated or laminated(?) much better than any other particle board desk. It'll beat out anything at OfficeMax, Walmart or whatever.

What I really want - is a standing desk but I absolutely hate having it in my living room or bedroom. I cannot stand having my job in my daily life if I'm sleeping or watching television. The alternative is a bigger apartment but that's expensive.

Does such a thing exist?
