I don't remember if I posted this before but is my only-option for a large-flat-desk the Galant series from Ikea? It looks great and all but I'm just surprised they're only place offering something in this kind of style/price.

I just want to find a desk that is really long so I can put one monitor on it with speakers and still have room to do hand written stuff and have text books on it on the other half of the desk. Yup. It's somewhat expensive but the cable management behind the desk is really cool.

Martytoof posted:That looks like every desk I've ever seen sold at Staples or Office Depot tbh. Really? I can't find anything like that on staples, office max or office depot. One thing I've notice is the table has a lot of depth, plus there's the raised portion which is really convenient as you don't have monitors taking up desk space so you can throw papers, books whatever under it. This table doesn't appear to be on their site either.

Paradoxish posted:Yeah, I've had my Galant for several years and I'm in love with it. Aside from being sturdy, the largest top is loving huge. I bought a cheap shelf from Ikea along with some cheap legs to make a desk-on-desk monitor stand. Keeps my monitors elevated about 8" and gives me a place to shove my keyboard and mouse if I need extra space on the desk for some reason. The best part is that the desk is so big that I'm able to fit an elevated shelf with two 22" monitors on it and still have room for a bookshelf speaker to the left and right of the shelf. What did you use to make the desk-on-desk stand?

During the workday, I use the wide monitor for work and the TV for my personal computer, mostly for music or streaming. Pretty happy with it so far, but I feel like I need a plant or something. How useful is it having a much larger display above your main setup? I keep seeing this trend and I am thinking about joining the bandwagon.

Is there such a thing as a standing desk that I'm able to store in a closet? What I really want - is a standing desk but I absolutely hate having it in my living room or bedroom. I cannot stand having my job in my daily life if I'm sleeping or watching television. The alternative is a bigger apartment but that's expensive. Does such a thing exist?
