So I'm chugging through Darksiders quite happily, and I've killed the second major boss. Exploring the area I ran through with Ulthane, I approached a tree and was suddenly attacked by a zombie in a top hat with a british accent and rapier. What the gently caress. I can't find it again.

:psyduck:

Is it easy to find again at this point in the game, or shall I just wait?

Dante's Inferno and Bayonetta. I've minced my way through Darksiders on Apocalyptic difficulty, so I'm quite eager to try my hand at other challenging GoW-esque games. Is it worth starting either of these two on the hardest difficulty, or do they simply ramp up the amount of damage enemies do without really balancing much else?

I'm after a challenge, not a grind. D:

Self contained. Just think of them as added extras that delve a little bit deeper into the background of the setting.

Ahhhhhh, cool. I'll watch them afterwards then. Only finished one Episode of the game so far but I'm absolutely enthralled - even the ending theme is a fantastic little addition to the 'TV Drama' feel.

Meal Gear Solid 4 on the PS3, guys? I tried ramboing but loving hell, that made the game seem so boring. Problem is I'm just not used to stealth like this; games like the original Metal Gear Solid and Alpha Protocol? No problem.

This, however. :psyduck:

Ah, thanks for that, dude. I only just got the section after you first meet the weapons dealer, and something just wasn't 'clicking'. Getting into a gunfight while trying to stealth felt like a failure, and purely run and gun just felt so shallow. Apparently I'm putting too much stock in specialising, though. :v:

I'll hit it again in the next couple of days, with a more relaxed playstyle.

But, yeah, thanks again - I'll just have to be more patient with it I think, and stop trying to apply my Jack Bauer-esque approach to the game (i.e. move quickly between things, kill, move on). I felt harassed to keep moving and stay away from violence due to what Otacon was saying: gently caress him I guess. :v:

After the prologue I recommend you do the missions in order of Taiwan, Italy, Russia as Russia has the most fighting and it's kind of a pain in the rear end to blast dudes before you've got your preposterous abilities.

Try to play through all the initial 'talky' missions first, in every hub, however as the contacts and black market items you unlock will become hugely expansive. Unlocking them per hub, so to speak, results in only a handful of new items.

Yakuza 3 on the PS3. Am I under any pressure whatsoever to finish the game quickly, or can I really take my time and soak everything up? I've wasted three hours alone on walking around the start of Chapter 1 buying ice cream for my niece, and playing the crane game. :3:

I just got a few Hitman games from a steam sale. Hitman: Codename 47 Hitman 2 and Hitman: Blood Money. Should I play them all in order? And is there anything I should know?

Hitman Contracts (the third one) is, IMO, the finest of the series and makes an excellent starting point. The first two are decent, but they're horribly unbalanced and can be a horrible slog - it wasn't until Contracts that the AI became smart enough to be challenging, yet still naive enough to dick around with. Blood Money is the most developed and nuanced of the lot, but I think it suffers in terms of music and atmosphere compared to Contracts.

Also, there's not much to really 'know'. It's the kind of game you'll get most enjoyment out by experimenting and playing with. However, don't feel to pressured: unless it's explicitly noted, there aren't any time limits on the missions so go nuts with dressing as Father Christmas and stalking your target for an hour. Most NPCs have a routine they will zealously abide by.

Oh motherfucker, I misread that entirely. Sorry! :v:

In that case start with Blood Money. Just remember that if you're a loudmouthed prick shooting everything with a shotgun, your face will be remembered by the media making future missions harder. Also, don't be afraid to pump money into extra intel - and, finally, if you replay a mission you'll earn any money that surpasses your original score (so if you made 10k the first time, then 15k the second time you'll get 5k). It's nice replaying certain levels and making everything seem like an accident though, just out of principle. :ninja:

The story is belched at you during the intro, so you're unlikely to get confused.

Take your time, explore, soak up the atmosphere. It rewards exploration and you're missing out if you don't poke around - especially in the stations.

The revolver is a very reliable weapon and can take you through the entire game, though not worth silencing. If you're killing people stealthily the throwing knives are a much better option anyway.

Listen to NPC chatter. Seriously: the stories they tell are absolutely beautiful at times, and really draw you in.

Early on you get a chance to spend some time with a prostitute. Don't do this unless you want to lose all your money.

Thanks for the advice on Far Cry, guys. Had a fantastic two hours of skulking about in the bushes shooting and stabbing, infiltrating a villa to dispose of soldiers, intimidating someone into misleading my actual target (then gunning him down afterwards for no penalty at all), got my jeep blown out from under me on arrival which lead to me being saved by a friend, only to then be dumped into a tiny loving shack which the enemies could all loving shoot through and I couldn't fight back because there wasn't space enough for me to loving well fight back without getting shot even further making me rage quit. :argh:

Definitely, the tourneys are absolutely frustrating. You need to be very good at the combat to win one.
After you build up your reputation enough you can ask to enter a king's service. This is important because the Marshall will call all the Lords together and eventually (they get easily distracted) they will siege a town or castle. Having the extra hands will help you take on larger armies than you normally could and get experience and loot. Ransoms are always a nice bonus.
The wikia says to do quests at the start but honestly, I have such a hard time finding the bad guys or even catching up to them since you're so slow at the start of the game.

Does all this mean I can be left behind if I'm too slow building up my dudes, or will there always be targets to hit at? I'm fine with there being a fail state as long as I know I can work my way around it. :v:

Yeah, if they're surprised by a death - something getting flung at them from the shadows, a friend's torso suddenly exploding from a mine, etc - they'll go into OH poo poo mode and start acting erratically. There are items and armor which explicitly mention they'll terrify though.

Also, I think enemies will only raise the alarm if they find a corpse and aren't terrified - i.e. any situation where it's obvious you're involved and they're lucid. Guards freaking out and opening fire all over the place, or a single guard getting hit by shurikens without seeing you? No alarm. Coming across a corpse on the ground or seeing you duck into the shadows? :supaburn:

I've read the wiki but it doesn't say an awful lot about tradeskills and non-combat stuff such as persuade, etc. I want to be a sneaky, stabby, thievy, spellcaster type person but looking at stealth/persuade/alchemy/detect hidden/etc abilities I fear I might be spreading myself too thin. What non-combat skills would be worth investing in, if any?
