Anybody have any in depth tips for Fallout Tactics? The wiki doesn't have any real in-depth ones. I don't want to screw myself by using a worthless race or class build.

Blood. The original DOS game, GOG.com version.

I've already grabbed the One Unit Whole Mods launcher and played the first level. What should I know before going further?

I've already learned "fire extinguishers will loving kill you".

-The TNT is your best friend in the game. The game is filled to the brim with robe-wearing enemies that can hit you perfectly across a level with a fast-firing Tommy Gun, but they usually die if they're anywhere near TNT blowing up. Primary fire makes it explode on impact, while secondary is like your average grenade. You can make your toss go further by holding down either fire key. Generally what you should be doing is quickly darting into an area to see if there are any of the robed guys are nearby. If they are, quickly toss a TNT bundle at them. If they're hitting you, get away from their line of sight so that they have to reposition, then quickly go back out and toss a TNT bundle at them.

-The Shotgun rocks against Zombies.

-The Flare Gun is a one-hit kill if it manages to get stuck on a robed guy and it has perfect accuracy. Also, it makes enemies go through a hilariously over-the-top (but awesome) death animation, which is worth it alone.

-Episode 2 introduces the Remote Detonated TNT bundles and Proximity TNT bundles. Use the Remote ones like regular TNT, or toss one into a room/corner you haven't checked out get to blow up any robed guys that may be hiding. Proximity sucks.

-The Voodoo Doll and Tesla Cannon can wreck bosses/strong enemies up with little difficulty.

- The Episode 1 boss is the hardest in the game, mostly because you don't have anything really powerful, like the Voodoo Doll. My best suggestion for that rear end in a top hat is to hit him with the Flare Gun's alt fire, then hit him with everything else. It's usually enough to kill him.

-The "on-fire" death animation and gibs are incredible. Try to trigger them as much as possible because they make the game really satisfying to play, even though it's filled with bullshit design decisions like the robed guys.

I'm about to play Dead Space and Saint's Row 2 for the PS3.

Anything I should know about them?

I can't help you with Saint's Row, but here's some Dead Space tips:

-Always aim for limbs. Hitting them does far more damage than a body shot.

-A few chapters into the game, there's an enemy with a gigantic yellow stomach that will start appearing. DO NOT HIT THE STOMACH. If you do, it'll burst and spawn a ton of irritating enemies. In later chapters, they spawn regular enemies if shot in the gut, making them even more dangerous.

-Try to specialize in two or three weapons. Having a lot of weapons fucks the game's ammo distribution up and makes it hard to find the ammo you need in boxes and the like. That means you have to spend more money at the store for ammo, and trying to frequently buy medkits and ammo, along with the occasional suit upgrade, drains your money very, very fast if it's your first time.

-As for the weapons that specialize in, use the basic Plasma Cutter, the Line Gun and the Assault Rifle. The Plasma Cutter and Line Gun are for enemies, while the Assault Rifle can tear up bosses in no time. I'm sure there's some overpowered weapon combo or whatever that let's you kill enemies easily by hitting them anywhere, but the decapitations with the Plasma Cutter and the Line Gun are very entertaining and a lot more fun that just blasting away at the enemy's center until it dies.

About to dive into Knights Of The Old Republic on Steam, but I'm utterly terrible at developing western RPG characters, and don't want to create another sci-fi cripple, like the Mass Effect character :{

I also heard it had a pretty hefty modding scene. I only plan to play through it once, so are there any mods that would really enhance the experience?

A little warning: there's a bug that makes your teammates completely unresponsive to you forever. Once you complete the first area, you'll be given three or so areas you can do in any order. One of them is a Sith academy that has old ruins and tombs you can explore. If you bring your companions to the end of a tomb and meet someone in the end area, there's a chance they'll stop responding to you forever. Either don't explore the tombs or go into them without companions. This happened to me, and I lost my two best characters for the rest of the game.

Really? I had never heard of this bug and I certainly didn't have it. Could you just reload a save?

You could, but if you save over it and don't have a recent backup, you're screwed.

I just bought Fallout: New Vegas and Metal Gear Solid 4 for PS3. I want to know some pointers starting out because I heard MGS 4 is kind of hard to get into. I have played New Vegas when it first came out wheN I got it from gameflyt but I only played through once very fast. I also gave it back obviously before any of the new Downloadable Content came out which I heard is excellent. What would you suggest for that also?

Fallout: New Vegas tips:

*All of the combat-related skills (like Guns and Melee) can be used from the start to the end of the game with little problems. Guns is the easiest starting off, but any one of them is just fine.

*If you're going to be shooting a lot, get Repair to 50. That lets you create Repair Kits, which are extremely helpful.

*Perception is worthless. Take the points out of it for stats you'd like to increase.

*Generally, you'll want to point you points in Strength first. A decent amount of strength is required to use some of the cooler weapons in the game. Intelligence is also something you should boost (unless you're making a gimmick character) as much as possible.

*Always go for speech checks. They offer the best solution to every conflict the game gives you.

*Play however you want. F:NV accommodates a ton of play styles. You can play it as an open world Call of Duty, be a cowboy (or cowgirl), be a diplomat, be a nutjob that kills everyone as soon as you see them, or a shirtless person that will murder someone if they say too many big words, and they are all fun and equally valid ways to play.

*Doing things like killing an important NPC will not make the game impossible to complete.

*The recommended DLC order for first timers is Dead Money, Old World Blues and then Lonesome Road. Those DLCs have a plot line that culminates in Lonesome Road. Honest Hearts can be played before, between or after them because it's mostly a self-contained story

*At the start of Honest Hearts, you will be attacked by an enemy while trying to cross a bridge. Do not fire at this enemy, or otherwise you'll accidentally hit a friendly NPC, which will make it impossible to do nearly every quest and force you to hunt down a map to escape the DLC area.

Any tips for Metro 2033's Ranger Hardcore mode? I've heard that you should go on a gas mask filter shopping spree at the start of the game and that everyone (including you) die from one to three bullets, but I don't know anything else beyond that.
