I have been very absent from the forums thanks to work destroying me with repeated ball kicks but have some pictures of My RIDES. Spent last Saturday detailing the Surf to take photos and list it for sale. How long will it still be mine??? Who knows. I can say that it cleans up so well and I have not driven it since washing/clay/wax because it looks so mint.

This thing is 28 years old and wears the original paint SO WELL. 68K miles (109,000kms). It has been a ton of fun for the past ~5 months but it is time to pull the cord and get the money. I am a KakerMix thread success story :unsmith:

And yeah there's a thread. Check out the OP, this car was purchased new in the Belgian Congo and drove across Africa, then drove from the great pyramids in egypt, through Jerusalem, Turkey, Rome, Swiss Alps then to London, put it on the Queen Mary (think the steamy scene from Titanic) and then the owner drove it from NYC to Oregon, the whole story is in the OP of the thread. I bought it from the original owner. Recently drove it 420 miles to where it lives now, all original (Except the interior seat upholstery/door cards)

I posted a pic of my V8 Vantage late last year shortly after I got it. It spent most of the ensuing few months in my garage on a trickle charger, but now the weather is getting nice it's seeing a lot of use. I've made a couple of changes to it: I've had the number plate moved down so the top is now flush with the bottom of the grille and doesn't cover any of it. Really improves the look of the front in my view.

I also found a great company who upgraded the frankly inadequate basic 160w audio to the 700w factory premium version. A fantastic upgrade and it really sounds fabulous now. The extra power is particularly welcome when the roof is down. They also upgraded the satnav screen to HD and gave me the ability to circumvent the stone-age OEM Volvo satnav and use Carplay/Auto via the screen instead. They even secreted the little control joystick for it in the ashtray, and put a discreet microphone for Google voice commands at the top of the instrument binnacle. Both upgrades completed the car for me. I can't think of anything else I want to do to it, except maybe change the tyres to Pilot Sport 4S's when the time comes to replace them. Some people swear by the twin plate clutch modification, but I quite like the heavy standard one. Will see about that one.

It's only been a few months but the excitement of owning and driving it has not diminished one iota. Absolutely love the hell out of it.

I hear they fixed the torque dip from the previous car for the GR86, which was pretty much its only flaw. It sounds like even more of a perfect, no-nonsense sports car than before. Would love to have a go in one.

Beautiful. I will say the Michelin's are completely worth it. I just got my second set on my M3. I forgot just how much grip they had when brand new. The only tire that could probably be considered "better" would be Cup 2's which will get shredded in like 3000 miles.

the tires that were on there (Kumho Ecstas all seasons) I had to run 3-4 psi below Alfa recs otherwise it felt like my fillings were going to be shaken out, these ride beautifully at recommended psi, quieter, and tons of grip.

What summer or all-season tyres should I put on my BMW 525D from 2007?

It currently has winter runflats on. They need replacing, it's warm here at the moment :scotland:.

On my 535 I use summer only Continental extreme contacts for summer and blizzaks for winter and they work well. If you don't really get snow there you could probably just go with some all seasons, like the extreme contact DWS all seasons or PS4 all seasons. Anything is better than run flats, they're so loud and ride so poorly.

Very nice. I'm looking for a convertible right now because they're just so much fun to drive with the top down when it's nice out, and you feel like you're moving a lot faster than you are so you don't need to go 100+. I know the noise floor is really high on cars, especially in convertibles, but it's nice to have good speakers.

Hell yeah. It's a beautiful experience - makes routine drives 100 times more pleasurable. I especially like it on a warm evening when there's no direct sunlight and a perfect mix of warmth and a slight cool breeze. Magical. Had an MX-5 years back and have missed the roof down thing ever since. Added bonus with the roof down in the Aston is you get to hear the addictive roar of its V8 all the better.

A few weeks after buying my miata I was having some buyer's remorse, since after all it was my only car and not a practical diesel appliance like what most of my friends had. And then I drove under exactly those conditions and... nope, this was clearly the best decision ever.
