I'll post a picture up soon, but I've just bought a black 1963 chevy Impala. It needs some restoration but it runs and it's in decent shape. I'm proud of it

Lowclock posted:Nice. My first car was a 2 door '66. What motor and trans are in it? 283 turbofire v8 2 barrel carb with powerglide automatic transmission. It was having some problems earlier this week, but I drove it for about 6 hours today and blew out all the crap fuel that was in it. Now it idles smoothly. Yesterday though I replaced the alternator and today filled the radiator and replaced the battery with a red top optima one. Which kicks rear end. The interior is a little damaged but it's original and nothing that cant be fixed, just tears in places on the seat and the roof. It's only got 37,500 miles on it, so while the engine is rusty and old, it performs like it just came out of a shop. Now I just need to fix the wipers, tighten the belt up, and put on my flowmaster. Right now it's running open exhaust. 11BulletCatcher fucked around with this message at 09:38 on Apr 19, 2012 |

I'm about to get a 1996 mercury grand marquis ls. What should I look out for. It's a very high mileage vehicle but so far all I can see wrong is the 02 sensor

So I've got to put it out there: I've added almost 400 miles on my 96 Grand Marquis in just over a week, and, with the exception of the mushy steering, the car is brilliant. It's all you could ever want a car to be! Why did they ever discontinue Mercury vehicles and the Panther platform? It's the most comfortable thing I've ever been in.

Oh AI, you and your fancy gadgets and fast cars and killer performance... but without comfort, what does it all mean? I just sold my 96 Grand Marquis to buy an 86 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham D'Elegeance. And while I may have sacrificed speed and power, I'll be damned if it's not the nicest, smoothest ride I've ever experienced. Also the slowest.

Needs all the bumper/fin fillers. A couple things on the door panels need to be reglued and one armrest is disconnected. The car was manafactured for Canada and so everything is metric. All original still, including radio. It's rolled over once but is in the vicinity of 136k kilometers. And it's slower than molasses. But it super comfortable. Who needs back support anyhow? ANd I have achieved 20 MPG in this car on the highway. 11BulletCatcher fucked around with this message at 03:10 on Feb 21, 2013 |

I'm planning on redoing the hydros, wrapping the frame, get real springs, interior, clean and simple exterior, and do bad rear end poo poo with it!
