sk8bored posted:Yeah, they do want quite a bit for them. I was able to bring them down on the price substantially. The future of lotus is pretty shaky but at least this model has been around long enough to have a decent after market unlike the new Evora. Trade you cars for an afternoon at PIR/Grassvalley, or just for a ride, haha.

Knocked a Miata off my "Bucket List". Next up is either a wagon, S2000, NSX, or possibly a M3.

I really need to upgrade to PM's/Archives... Ooppps. Kimbo, as soon as I do I will PM you. If you want, like FD3S Engineering on facebook and message me. The Rx7 is a 93 R1 that I have had for 6 years. It had a complete 2001 drivetrain in it from a wrecked car swapped in by the PO- But he never could figure out the 8bit US to 16bit Japanese wiring. It was gutted outside my shop by some jackasses two years ago. It looked like this before then. I put it back together a few months later with stock parts. Slowly I have been gathering replacement bits for all the cool stuff that was taken. I swapped a fresh Pineapple motor with a mild port/N3G1 twins/larger injectors/no emissions/ACT street+strip clutch/ect in to it this weekend and pulled the 01 drivetrain. It is now back to being a stock R1. Eventually I will build a 02 Spirit R clone with a 95 Base and the 01 drivetrain. As far as I have it for now. And yes... there are a few FD's at my house...

financially racist posted:SW20s have been coming down in price for quite a while. 3k is very much on the low end, but a good NA should not cost much more than 5k or so. You should get in while they are this cheap, it can't last forever and I am willing to bet that in the next 5-10 years they'll start rising in price again as good ones become harder to find. If you make it up to Portland, send me a message. I've got a friend with like 6 of those- 2 of them swapped.

I see the exact same thing with FD's right now. $1,500-5k cars being marked up to $15-24k. Nothing but a quick check to make sure it will drive away. It's like the used car dealer level of slimness has found a new market. The parts market alone to keep these imports on the road would almost be worth starting a business. It's only a matter of time until people realize how difficult RHD/model specific parts like windshields, body panels, electronics, etc are to find...

OneSizeFitsAll posted:As people are posting sports cars, I feel emboldened to share my own piece of folly, which I collected a couple of weeks ago. I have dreamed of owning the now old shape Aston ever since the DB9 was released. After a torrid but fruitful few years with work I have rewarded myself with a weekend/non-family car. I've missed driving with the roof down since parting with my MX-5 (Miata) 15 or so years ago, so I had to get a roadster. It's a car for driving, not going from A to B, so I wanted a manual. And who needs the pointless rear "seats" of the DB9, plus again, it's a weekend fun car, so instead of that model, but equally beautiful (in my eyes anyway), I am now the extremely happy owner of a 2009 manual V8 Vantage Roadster. I am in total love with it. This is awesome. I'm really curious to hear your experience. I've many a time considered selling my hoard of cars and downsizing to just two nice cars. One being a DB9 and the other a Porsche.

Darchangel posted:Oh, man, I like that yeller one. Looks like it was (re)built by someone who knows rotaries as well. Oh man. That's the guy who lives like 20 minutes from me. His "craftsmanship" has been featured in my thread. Like the time he mixed S4 and S5 parts in the Red 92 RHD engine, then blamed the customer when the motor exploded after 30 min later. Or the time he "converted" a 88 GXL to fuel injection, by JBwelding the injector holes kinda shut, folding+zip tying bare wires into pins, and using JB weld to "rebuild" the carb. Also the same fantastic gentleman who took money from the local rotary club to build a motor for weekend racing, which lasted 30 minutes.... And then did the exact same thing to three other local rotary race teams. 0/10 - would not touch it with a 10ft pole.
