So, some of you know I had a deposit in on a Slingshot. I was told that it would be a terrible purchase, I was an idiot, my kids are ugly, etc. Well, I didn't care. I wanted a small, open, absurd little car to gently caress around with on the weekends. So I bought a Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio. We already have a 500 pop, and it's a stupid amount of fun. This Abarth is.. jesus. It's loud, the ride is terrible, and it tracks all over the place. I love it so very much.

Finally pulled the other 500 out of the garage so the wife could drive it. It's sat for the last 6 months, unloved.

I'm buying the 124 the moment it's on sale Installing a set of custom stripes on the red 500 today. I have a set of white abarth 16s coming for it next week, and will be painting the mirror caps white. These things are stupid fun, and the backseat of the cabrio is actually not bad at all.

Nohearum posted:Can you explain why one would buy two of the same car? They are different models of the 500, but it still baffles me that you would want two of the same vehicle. They are as much the same car as an evo is a Lancer. One is a turbocharged cabrio, the other is a lazy little hatchback. The Pop is my wife's, the Abarth cabrio is mine. Though she never drives it, really. I think it's moved twice in the last year.

I wish Subaru would sell the old 2.5rs with a modern drivetrain. It's too bad Subaru doesn't have any modern drivetrains to put in them.

You can't really tell from these photos, but about 1/3 of the house is glass from floor to ceiling, including the living room, which has a 12' W x 12' H sliding glass door-thing that allows the entire room to open up. 1.5 Acres was not easy to come by in North County San Diego. That being said, the construction quality is terrible and it's a loving greenhouse in the summer, so I get to enjoy $1,000 electricity bills. I really need to jump on the solar bandwagon. Note the hilarious cottage on my hill next to the jacuzzi/patio.

Hilarity. It's worth about 950k. I own and rent out a much nicer, newer house in the Palm Springs area. It's worth about 350k, which is still less than I paid for it in 2007. eyebeem fucked around with this message at 02:05 on Aug 4, 2016 |

Welp. Just made the most boring car purchase of my life. The wife and I now each have an energi and a Fiat 500. At lease my 500 is an abarth and a different color than hers. Realtalk, the energi is actually really nice to drive. It's like a small version of our flex, with better low end torque. Really roomy inside, and much more engaging than the Prius's I've owned in the past.

I don't get it. Our Flex is a lease and is being returned next month. Her Fiat is a base model Pop, was her commuter car, and is now for sale. She bought it before we had kids, and it's no longer practical now that we take two kids to daycare every day. My fiat is an abarth cabrio, and was my commuter, but is now my weekend "fun" car. Our old system was to drive the Flex when we needed to take a kid somewhere or drive somewhere as a family. Now we both have cars that we can all fit in.
