Whoop Whoop new car time!

My Jeep's been giving me some trouble pretty much every other week so I figured I should pick up some reliable transportation in the case that the Jeep brakes and I can't easily fix it. Saw this on Craigslist about an hour after it was posted. Went up and drove it the next day and bought it 30 minutes later.

It's in amazing shape. Power windows, cruise control, AC, the only things it doesn't have are power windows and locks. The seller bought it in this shape and never bothered to fix it.

Please excuse my bad photo. The glare from the sun was pretty strong so I didn't see that I was off center so much. The bumper is crunched up on the left side but it's almost all there so I'll either try fiberglassing/bondoing it back into one piece or hit up a pick & pull for a replacement. Probably the former as there are no junkyards around here with any 88-90 GTs.

Engine compartment is very clean. The motor runs very quietly and she starts right up. There's very little rust, just a small bit on one wheel arch and 2 small spots in the floorboards that I'll hit with some rust neutralizer until I have time to repair it properly.
Transmission shifts drat smooth and it has more get up and go than I remembered Escorts having. The only real flaw is a bad driver side wheel bearing which I have sitting on my workbench downstairs. I was planning to install it tonight but it seems some of my sockets are missing.

All in all a pretty solid car that will hopefully net me 30+ mpg for the rest of the summer.

Oh and I paid $300 for it + $28 for the bearing and $76 for title and plate. Not too shabby right?

As well as getting the roof and bonnet fixed, they replaced some of the window rubbers, as they had tears in them from the hail damage.

Car's looking like a million dollars at the moment (as long as you ignore the stone chip damage on the bonnet)

I picked it up today. It's a 96 with 162k miles, a 5.0, 4WD, etc. Picked it up for about a grand under Blue Book, and all it needs is the rear window sorted out. I had to put a new battery in it, but the PO put a new starter solenoid, a new trailing arm bushing, got it inspected, and threw in a new set of brake shoes for the rear just because. A/C blows ice cold, and both high range and low range on the 4WD work. Practically no rust on it, and the interior is as immaculate as you can expect from a 14 year old truck.

I am so loving jealous. I'd trade my Cherokee for a Bronco in a heartbeat.

Wow, the glare from outside removes all the decals from the trunk lid. I have been toying with the idea of de-badging the 'Infiniti' and leaving the logo and 'G35' on the trunk.

As long as you don't put "Skyline" on it like the dozen or so guys in town you're fine.

Sadly my Escort is sold and will be gone by the middle of the week. The Jeep's fate is up in the air as it will cost quite a bit to get her into reliable shape again. Ideally I will fix the Jeep and keep her as my winter car so I can store the MS6 during winters.

Nah, NE Indiana. And all cul de sacs do look identical. The neighborhood I grew up in was a contract built subdivision, all the houses were built by the same contractor. Well they only had 4 or 5 house designs so each street really did look identical.

I spent entirely too much time getting the rear bumper looking good again. The driver side tail light is still a bit iffy and the hatch doesn't quite line up anymore. It's gonna need tires soon and an alignment and it has a short somewhere because it keeps draining the battery. Other than that it's a blast to drive and I was netting 34-36 mpg regularly.

Anyone wanna buy it? My buyer backed out.
