New car I bought for the wife and kids, to replace her worse-than-awful PT Cruiser. '09 Honda Civic DX-VP (base model). You can see my Mazda B2200's rear end next to it. Click here for the full 1600x1200 image. '91 Civic Hatch base, 4-speed manual w/ 72 ground-pounding hp. "Mods" include Tokico Blue shocks and Tokico springs, Enkei wheels w/ Parada Spec-2 tires, and SLO-RICE license plate. Slow as dog poo poo, but gets 40mpg. Currently being sold to my live-in best friend. Click here for the full 800x600 image. Imperador do Brasil fucked around with this message at 11:37 on Dec 14, 2008 |

Picked it up yesterday. Lots of miles, but no rust or oil leaks. Iffy interior but silky-smooth engine, trans, and suspension. Needs new tires, but it was a great price. The 09 Fit Sport is also mine.

You Am I posted:Tidy little beast. Saw a Gen 1 MR2 on the way to work the other day, can't believe how tiny they are, even compared to a "small" car like the new Ford Fiesta. I was driving my Fit to the hospital today and I passed an EG Civic hatch (92-95) on the highway. In my mind the Fit is a small car because everyone around here drives giant vehicles, but I felt like a towering giant next to that civic. Picking up a '96 full-size Bronco tomorrow, pictures forthcoming!

As promised, pictures of the Bronco: I picked it up today. It's a 96 with 162k miles, a 5.0, 4WD, etc. Picked it up for about a grand under Blue Book, and all it needs is the rear window sorted out. I had to put a new battery in it, but the PO put a new starter solenoid, a new trailing arm bushing, got it inspected, and threw in a new set of brake shoes for the rear just because. A/C blows ice cold, and both high range and low range on the 4WD work. Practically no rust on it, and the interior is as immaculate as you can expect from a 14 year old truck.

kimbo305 posted:What was wrong with it? It was an automatic SHO. It left my wife sitting in a parking lot about every week, and this was just after my first son was born, so she would have to walk home from the grocery store (about 1/2 mile) with a baby and groceries in tow, or wait in the store till I got back from work, etc. Then the transmission (stupid Ford AXOD) started going out and would clunk every time you put it in gear. Also - while accelerating, no matter how gently, the shift to second gear resulted in screeches and tire smoke and violent shaking. We couldn't get the A/C or half the windows to work even after trying some replacement parts and attempting to diagnose underlying issues. Basically, it was the first "family" car we bought in anticipation of our first child, and pretty much everything was wrong with it.

Tindjin posted:Very nice. I had a 1994 Eddie Bauer edition with the 5.7 for a few years. Engine and body were fantastic but I got a poo poo E4OD tranny that was rebuilt and then replaced. The replaced one was fine. I don't think it helped that I had a super charger on it. Oh and watch out for the solenoid/motor on the transfer case that changes the gears, it's a known weak part of that series of transfercases. You mean the 5.8 (351)? I don't think Ford made a 5.7. I'll keep the transfer case solenoid in the back of my head. For now, I think I need to get a new rear window motor, but at least the window is stuck up and not down. I hooked up a 12V source to the motor plug, but it only does about half a turn in either direction - enough to get the window down about 1/4 inch. I hear the tailgate window motor is the same as one of the door window motors. Confirm/deny?

Das Volk posted:A 160 MPH speedo on a 500+ HP car? Seriously? I find this especially surprising given those "I took my Mustang to Germany because America has speed limits" commercials. With the right gearing that thing should be able to crack 200 with enough road. It's not so much about the gearing because at 75mph it's only turning 1700RPM, but it's electronically limited to 155mph. Luckily, there are very cheap handheld tuners that will remove the limiter. Unluckily, there's nowhere to do 155+mph in the US other than a racetrack anyway...Still, I see your point. Imperador do Brasil fucked around with this message at 17:23 on Dec 19, 2010 |

VolumeBroadcast posted:I own a 2011, its around 24mpg, much less if your in boost often. City averages around 16-20 depending again on the right foot. This is one of the reasons I decided not to get an STi, or even a Mazdaspeed3. I loved the performance, but I would have been using it as a daily driver to keep the miles on my Shelby low, and that's the same mileage the GT500 gets, so it wouldn't have made sense. I opted for a Cobalt SS, which was getting about 31mpg before the 3" turbo-back, intake and tune. Now it's at around 29mpg (mixed driving). STis are gorgeous though, especially in blue!

So today the wife decided to trade her minivan in. She had been thinking about it for a while, and today she bought a car we test drove earlier in the week. She went from a VW Routan to this: 2009 G8 GT. 6.0 with the 6-speed auto. Headers, X-pipe and axle-back, ram air intake and a tune. Dyno tuned at 378whp and 380 torques. Even with all that, it's already getting better gas mileage than her giant pigbeast van.
