meatpimp posted:Are the fenders different between performance and luxury, other than the fender flares? There's mounting holes for the flares on the p-type fenders, but structurally I think they're the same. The smaller flare on the l-type (which is moulded into the metal) may be present on the p-types underneath the fiberglass flares but I'm not sure.

Darko posted:Yep, it's the scat pack (You can tell them by the little bee side decal). It was just too good of a deal to pass up, really (A couple of things people don't normally consider is that you can get a Chrysler discount with the Scat Pack and not the SRT, and many insurance companies list the Scat as a RT, lowering insurance dramatically for the "same" car). Excellent, yes please do share this Chrysler discount stuff. Insurance chat, I got some quotes and the shaker scat pack is going to run me $4/month more than my 2011 cr-z for the same coverage. Color me surprised

Great, thanks for all the info. When I went to test drive one, they only had manual 5.7s on the lot which was ok. I was more interested in how the gearbox felt anyhow. I was pretty impressed with the r/t 5.7 as far as build and feel went. So I just chocked it up to getting into a nicer, more powerful version of that which seemed like a good choice. I see the r/t+ shakers are now available on the site (this is new for today, I've been checking daily) but the Scat Pack Shakers are not available yet. The MSRP on the r/t+ shaker is the same as the Scat Pack (38k) which is weird as people are reporting that the Scat Pack Shaker would run around 39. We'll see what happens I suppose. I'm coming from a history of small japanese turbos, so this is a world apart from what I'm used to, but I'm looking forward to it based on the first test drive.

Elephanthead posted:If you are the same sex or otherwise partner of a chrysler employee or retiree you get 5% off of invoice. That is the way too go if you can get the certificate. Salesmen in know can hook you up with the phone number to call in detroit and they will call you back when they find you a partner, heh. This works best if guys are laid off in the plant that makes your car. All you need is the certificate number. You can get employee pricing instead of friends and family. I did this once but it was 6 years ago. I ended up calling the guy back and giving back the code because I changed my mind but the code was completely legit. I also live a hour from Kokomo Indiana which builds a ton of chrysler crap so your mileage may vary finding some old school UAW scammers. Trying to figure out how I'd even go about doing this. Would the chick I know that's the finance manager be able to hook up something like that?

It looks like it is much harder now that FIAT is in charge over magna which didn't care. Do you still have his info? Wouldn't hurt to try if he's far away and isn't going to make my sale anyhow.

MetaJew posted:The law in California is really lax about license plates when it comes to plates for a newly purchased car. I believe it might be up to six months before you'll receive your permanent plates, so people just never put plates on their car. I think I also read that the fine for no plates is actually cheaper than having out of date or old registration. It's $10 a pop for a front plate, and in most cases you have to take the car to a CHP/Police station and have the ticket verified, aka prove that you have a plate on the car. Usually a plate in the front window with a dumbfounded "there's no place to put it on" gets you gone. I haven't had a front plate on any of my cars in the last 5 years or so and have paid my fair share of , but gently caress drilling holes in your bumper when they're not there from the get-go. I ran one for a while on the supra, then the plate mount bracket broke off and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay someone to tack it back on. If you buy a new car, keep it clean and leave the temp reg in the window you can usually get away with it for a while, albeit if you get pulled over 2 years later with the temp reg in the window you'll have some 'splainin to do.
