I would normally at first glance, but the inclusion of Danny Byrd, Noisia et al gives it a nice feel, and frankly mixing it up with Pendulum and Danny Byrd (good lad on getting a bunch of Supersized in there by the way) in the same mix is impressive any way you look at it.

Symptomless Coma posted:Dancehall? Jump-up. This would be possible with CDJs or Traktor etc, but I don't think there's anyway I could take part as I only use vinyl? Actually, you could maybe plug an iPod with the other person's half of the mix into the mixer, record that whole thing again, then mix out of it while still recording. If so I would be up for that (bristol heads reppin') but I am still really new at this so you'd have to cut me some slack.

I like house, but I can only afford to buy vinyl for one genre and it's way easier to find vinyl for everything D&B (at least in England) than it is for house. I'll probably get Serato/Traktor in a couple of years and use that to play house but still play all my D&B on vinyl. If only it weren't all so expensive.

A MIRACLE posted:I listen to all the mixes posted here except D&B. That stuff hurts my ears.. This makes me sad. Fair enough if you've heard plenty and it just isn't your cup of tea, but is the D&B you usually hear 'angry' D&B? If so, then I assure you that is but a fraction of D&B, and I'd be happy to provide some links to some examples of other sub-genres.

This is a minimal/liquid dnb set made by a friend of mine. There's a lot of techno-influenced stuff in there so you guys should check it out even if you don't normally like dnb - this is VERY different to the normal stuff. Apparently after around 28 minutes he forgot to stop recording so after that wasn't meant to be on there. I reckon it still sounds pretty good though. http://dnbshare.com/download/JackClark.mp3.html Tracklist for first 28 minutes-ish: Zyon Base & Hobzee - Rain on Lens Commix - Bear Music Instra:mental - Hunter Phobia & Jubei - Guillotine (Breakages remix) Electrosoul System - After Hours Sabre - God Fearing Naibu - Newport Saburuko & Brother - In Control Brooklyn - Someone (Naibu Remix) Anae fucked around with this message at 02:19 on Mar 2, 2009 |

TheWevel posted:http://soundcloud.com/thewevel/november-2009-drum-n-bass-mix Good selection (very good actually, especially for someone who presumably doesn't mix d'n'b often), beatmatching is a little off in places (between Microdaze and Transporter for example), and the mixing is a little boring - d'n'b mixing focuses around being exciting. Switching up long blends with creative chopping and cutting, teasing tunes, rolling out tunes for longer and then doing some quick mixing for a few tunes, etc. You just seem to mix the intro with the outro and let each tune play for both breakdowns. I pretty much only ever play the second breakdown of a tune if I've teased a tune over the top of it or if it simply has an UNMISSABLE breakdown (see: Fresh - Offworld). Great for a first try though, I'm impressed Anae fucked around with this message at 12:34 on Nov 7, 2009 |

You seem to be annoyed with d&b producers for not sticking to simple percussion intros (what, you don't like them actually trying to make music instead of just tools for djs?), and yet I know for a fact that every single track on that mix has at least a simple hi-hat intro. Let me know if I've got the wrong end of the stick, I'm just not sure what your gripe is here.

It's because Goa is a state (?) in southern India where really epic psytrance parties used to take place in the 90s, and it had it's own sound, hence Goa trance. I think.
