What else is there out there that has the same high tempo but jazzy sound to it?

Go to Youtube, type in "Soil and Pimp Sessions" and click any video.

As someone who is now dabbling in vinyl collecting [just for the novelty of it really] I'd like some suggestions for some good 70s rock albums, something smooth, maybe prog rock, that I can sit and space out too while I fiddle on my computer [my turntable is hooked up through my soundcard] also preferably something I can pick up used for $nottoomuch$

Get some Yes albums. Close to the Edge, Fragile, Tales Of A Topographic Ocean.

My favorite thing to listen to on vinyl and the only reason I have my record player hooked up, is Dire Straits self titled.

I've been listening to the first four Ramones albums a lot again.

1. Besides the first four and live albums, what are some other good Ramone studio albums?

2. I want some more old school/70s/"proto" punk. No Ramones or The Stooges please.

I want some more instrumental, or instrumental-esque hip hop songs. I'd prefer there to be no lyrics/vocals other then samples, but if the music is good enough I can look past it.

Right now all I have that I can think of, in order of what kind I am most looking for.

MF DOOM - Special Herbs 1&2
RJD2 - Deadringer - I had someone tell me his more recent albums aren't anything like this one.
J. Dilla - Donuts
Aesop Rock - Nike+: All Day - A 40 minute track he did for Nike's All Day thingamajig. It's mostly music with rap verses peppered throughout.

edit: I forgot, but I really love Nightmares on Wax's In A Space Outta Sound, whats some other stuff from him I should check out?

I've gotten into rap fairly recently. My first foray was MF Doom, whom I liked a lot, and I'm just starting to listen to the Wu-Tang albums. So far I've liked what I've heard from the first two albums of theirs. I also liked Method Man's Tical a whole lot.

Some other artists I've stumbled into and liked are A Tribe Called Quest, Saul Williams (other than most of Niggy Tardust), People Under the Stairs, One Be Lo, Cannibal Ox and the Pharcyde.

Do you guys know of anything I might like?

In addition, what are some core rap albums that self-proclaimed rap fans should sit down and listen to? I don't really know what I'm missing out on as far as classics go.

My three favorite hip hop albums of all time are these, so I recommend them.

Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass
Dead Prez - Let's Get Free
Dead Prez - Revolutionary But Gangster

Classic rap albums:
Erik B and Rakim - Paid In Full
Boogie Down Productions (BDP) - Criminal Minded
Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back
KRS-One - Return of the Boom Bap
Wu-Tang Clan - Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Gang Starr - Step In the Arena
Big L - Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous
Nas - Illmatic
Notorious B.I.G - Ready To Die
Black Star - Mos Def and Talib Kweli Are...

In addition to this guys list:

Eric B & Rakim - Follow The Leader - The title track being the best hip hop song I have ever heard.
Public Enemy - Fear Of A Black Planet

Now for my own question.

I want some new thrash metal, I have plenty from the 80s and 90s, but I want some recent stuff that has been coming out. My favorites are Death Angel, Kreator and Anthrax.

What are some good Thin Lizzy albums to start out to? I have come to like Thin Lizzy's song mainly because the bands I currently listen to cover them a lot. Is there stuff that's considered to be better?

Fighting and Jailbreak for studio albums, Live & Dangerous is one of the best live albums out there.

I'm looking for some funk recommendations. I'm a big fan of:

Kool and The Gang
Tower Of Power
Sly and the Family Stone
James Brown

Parliament
The Meters

I'm looking for more of that kind of funk music. Thanks.

Funkadelic's Maggot Brain and Curtis Mayfield's Superfly are my two favorite.

Anyone know any good head-bobbing, danceable tracks? I'm imagining a blend of say, The Pharcyde, MIA, Bassnectar, Goapele, and Ratatat. That sounds overly complicated..

I've recently been loving on this, if that helps steer any recommendations.

It doesn't necessarily have to be super feelgood or anything, just in the pocket and not acoustic.

Have you heard Chromeo? First thing I thought of when I heard "head bobbing, danceable tracks"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dd57i0TWoW0 - Needy Girl (The sound quality of this doesn't do the song justice when you have it cranked on a nice stereo)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRxuwvSa4oE&ob=av2n - Fancy Footwork

What's some good hip hop from say.. 2000-2010? Most of my hip hop collection is stuff from the 80s, 90s and groups/people from that era releasing albums this decade. I don't have any dislikes, except for nerdcore unless it's really, really good which it usually isn't.

edit: Also, I can only get one. A Perfect Circle's Mer De Noms or Thirteenth Step?

Any album in particular? Their first two albums are the most similar, Crisis starts changing sound and Young Cardinals doesn't sound like their first ones.

I'm a huge Black Sabbath fan (Ozzy & Dio eras). Does anyone have any suggestions for similar-sounding music for me to check out? Anything remotely close to the Black Sabbath album (in particular, Behind the Wall of Sleep,) would be terrific.

I'm a bass player, so anything like Geezer Butler's funky sound would be groovy.

I'm looking for happy music!

I don't really care what it is, just whatever you personally find cheers you up or makes you feel good about whatever. I'm a big fan of upbeat electronic music but I've run out of stuff to listen to. Instrumental stuff is awesome. I've been needing to mellow out and try and improve my mood and I think this would help a lot.

Different happiness:

Zolof The Rock and Roll Destroyer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCg9iaz50oI - Four of their songs back to back.

Norah Jones always makes me happy, Sunrise especially:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fd02pGJx0s0&ob=av2e

Janelle Monae, it's like Michael Jackson and Prince had an awesome kid.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwnefUaKCbc&ob=av2e - Tightrope
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZyyORSHbaE&feature=relmfu - Many Moons
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqmORiHNtN4&feature=fvwrel - Coldwar

Mutemath, can't say much other then it makes me happy. The first song is their new single, the next two are from their first album which is one of my favorite albums.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv2mjAgFTaI - Blood Pressure
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTV0Aa4lC04 - Chaos
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XVWR-5fiG0 - Typical

Old school Anthrax is great for that:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oyY6ibGI4M - Gung Ho
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCDIbjkkGz4&feature=related - Madhouse

Lights, a pretty girl singing an upbeat song, definition of happy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AU9-TRVbhkE&ob=av2e - Ice
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPLRkyGU3cM&feature=relmfu - Second Go

Asteroid Galaxy Tour. I think of these guys as a modern trippy hippy pop band who makes really fun music. The trippy thing I think is associated in my mind because I did a lot of whippets while listening to this album.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yq-aNkBc2_M - Around The Bend
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17XQ8pJZ4lw&feature=related - The Sun Ain't Shining No More

edit: I should clarify, whippets are slang terms for those little canisters of Nitrous Oxide. I wasn't loving those skinny dogs.
