Death in June

Chunder posted:

I've been getting into a lot of alternative bluegrass and country.

I'm looking for something along the lines of these bands:

Slim Cessna's Auto Club http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQP2ChNur-A
Deer Tick (War Elephant) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrrwckzksig
Trampled by Turtles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOV4PKZgqOo
Hank 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgI4Gl2fS9c
The Devil Makes Three http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aRuN0DY41s
O'Death http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtdmPN0WJM0

I've always been into punk and folk but somehow ended up being steered toward this sort of stuff. I'm addicted but I'm starting to feel I might have already got through everything worthwhile. Hope I'm wrong!

I really think you should check out the australian band named The Drones.
Just start with their album "here come the lies" and slowly sift through their great punk/blues/garage discography for max potency and everlasting admiration.

If you want to go straight for their most known tunes, check out:
"Sharkfin blues"
"baby 2"
"Jezebel"
"sittin`on the edge of the bed cryin`"

I would love something that sounds like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyOfYkP705M

The more dry and desert-like the sound is the better.

The arkansas revisited ep from the brian jonestown massacre is a great stoner/country/bluegrass sidetracking from their usual rock and roll/newer acid rock.

I even think they have a member from the group BRMC in their line-up at the time.
And a fun fact: Charles Manson wrote the "backbone" of the Arkansas revisited song, wich is the last one on the ep.
