I've just recently discovered the greatness that is Lightspeed Champion and I sure wish I'd listened sooner. I'm a big fan of Bloc Party as well and I enjoyed Kele's solo album so I'm looking for any similar stuff in that vein. Nice indie stuff with a British twist, or perhaps without even. Also anything like Death Cab For Cutie stateside.

-Blackadder- posted:I could use some help. I usually listen to Rap and 80's Pop/Rock but the other day I stumbled onto the following songs while watching some player made video game movies and thought they were pretty cool. Would appreciate some recommendations based on these... As far as Killswitch Engage goes, that song is off the album of the same title which is their second album. Their first album featured a different singer, and all albums since have featured Howard Jones on vocals. For individual songs by them check out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgMsACFMIq8&ob=av2e http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc9n5VMLU-k http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EluzTj88tWU&ob=av2e http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrhIbX-uDjQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVskEA9-CtQ All of these songs have melodic parts as a lot of Killswitch songs tend to have so it's not just screaming all the way through which may be off putting if you're just getting in to this type of stuff. System of a Down is a pretty fun band, they aren't too heavy most of the time and they make fun songs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elo9svwGg0c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08jvu0RSFv8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZdL1BupbhU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoheCz4t2xc&ob=av2e http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkkOQjK71Ss If you're looking for bands like these, Killswitch Engage is probably the most well known metalcore band, so bands like All That Remains, As I Lay Dying, and The Devil Wears Prada. As far as System of a Down is concerned, there really isn't any bands like them per say, but if you like that weird experimental feel check out The Mars Volta, Serj Tankian's solo effort (he's the lead singer) or Daron Malakian's (guitarist/singer for them) band which also features John Dolmayan (their drummer) on, you guessed it, drums! You also mentioned DragonForce, I'm not a big fan of theirs at all but if you are into that Power Metal sound (fighting dragons and other hilarious, awesome poo poo) then check out Manowar for all your fantasy metal needs. They do it all.
