I was wondering if there are any bands/albums that hit a good sweet spot with a mix of dream pop/shoegaze, I definitely know bands in those two categories separately but I haven't found many with a mix of the two that I enjoy; most lean one way or the other too much. Closest I found was something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlS247blB2c any idea?

funkybottoms posted:not sure where your dividing line lies, but that link made me think of Kent's "747." i've been listening to No Joy and the first The Joy Formidable (no relation) a lot lately, so you might get something out of them, but i have a feeling that the latter might both have more of an edge than what you're looking for Beach House is great but there definitely dream pop, not really shoegaze. I rather like both of the "Joy" suggestions you had, though I wasn't to big of a fan of the alt rock edge and I think I may want more walls of noise? None of its bad but feels like all the bands I search for with that combination don't quiet have "the sound" im looking for (granted I myself am trying to articulate what exactly that sound I want is). I think I need something more noisey and less poppy but still very dreamy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=natQF-y0Ez8 Here's I think another great example of the stuff I'm looking for, I probably should have linked this instead actually. Thanks for your suggestions though.

Stravinsky posted:There's a number of Japanese shoegaze bands that would work then. Hold up and I will give you a list tomorrow when I have a computer. Well it doesn't have to be SPECIFICALLY Japanese as long as it fits in that category sonicaly really but I'm all for rec's Hooplah posted:Maybe you would like My Dead Girlfriend?? More japanese shoegaze: Hmm not to bad, a little to indie rock sounding but still some decent stuff; thanks.

bowser posted:Looking for some upbeat, guitar-driven rock music with little to no vocals. There's a good chance you'd like And So I Watch You From Afar then, their album All Hail Bright Futures is easily one of my favorite instrumental albums. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBXlZksgnpU (The song says 7 minutes but its actually about 4:30)
