Seeking! I used to work for General Motor's Software and Services division, was laid off in August 2024, and have been working doing Oracle DBA work for a data center since February 2025. Unfortunately, my team only renders services to two clients and one has recently told us they plan to migrate off our servers by mid-September. I would like to get ahead of what is likely going to be a workforce reduction (and/or salary reduction), so I'm looking for jobs now while I'm still employed and receiving a paycheck. Update: We are finalizing the migration efforts and I have been informed today that December 31, 2025 is my last day of work at my current employer. I'm looking for any and all leads for DBA work so I don't start the new year without a new job. Location: Marietta, GA area. I'd prefer remote jobs if at all possible. Education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Master of Science in Computer Science Experience: 3 years of Oracle Siebel CRM development, 1.5 years of IBM DataStage and Broadcom AutoSys work, 4 years of SAP HANA and 5 years of Oracle database administration (four of the Oracle DBA years of experience overlap with the four years of SAP HANA DBA experience). Seeking: An SAP HANA or Oracle database administration position (Oracle preferred at this point). I'm willing to apply for database administration positions for different RDBMSs if given the chance to grow into the role relatively quickly. Relocation: No please. Marietta, Georgia or the surrounding areas. I was commuting ~30 minutes to Roswell, GA and am willing to travel a similar distance for hybrid work. Skills: I can code in C++, Java, and Python.* SAP HANA database administration, which includes tasks like: installing and decommissioning databases, upgrades, business continuity switchovers, database restoration from backups, database refreshes (target database populated with data from a source database), monitoring through SAP Cockpit, setting up work modes (monitoring blackouts) through Solution Manager, and other relevant activities. SAP Oracle database administration on AIX, SUSE, and RHEL systems, which includes tasks like: PSU Oracle patching, installing and decommissioning databases, database refreshes (target database populated with data from a source database), scheduling the creation and dropping of guaranteed restore points through Oracle Enterprise Manager, creating monitoring blackouts through Oracle Enterprise Manager, and other relevant activities. I've recently (as of June 2, 2025) received my Oracle Database Administration OCP accreditation. Can be reached: Private Message *I haven't coded in forever, but I can still read through code and understand what's happening with relative ease. I can brush off the rust in a pinch if needed.
