Ain't got no stinking title yet!

Who are we? We're a small boutique ISP that services business customers. We've been in the ISP business for over 15 years, and are successful at it.

Where are we? We're based in downtown Toronto, Ont, Canada.

What are we looking for? Mid-level Systems/Network Administrator.

Details:

You'll see a lot of everything, so you've got to be a jack of all trades kind of person. With that you get a lot of hands on work like: servers (From rack Dells to HP Blades) to core internet routers with fibre/wireless/broadband, and the infrastructure of Ontario's connectivity. You might even get to know the Canadian internet cabal.

Small shop means that you're not going to be hiding in a cubicle all the time and will have to see a customer occasionally - so you've got to shower. It also means that yes, you'll have to talk to them on the phone as well. And no, we don't do residential sales - so randomgrandma doesn't order from us and therefore no support to her.

The internet runs 24x7, so we're on call all the time, but unlike some shops we believe in having a normal life outside of work is a good thing, so we don't like using it.

Fire an email off to unknown@foobox.com for/with details.

Butcher of Song
Got a new job opening, Game Server Engineer.

Hiring In: Brooklyn (DUMBO/Brooklyn Heights Area) NYC

Who we are: Freeverse INC, now a part of ngmoco:) who is now owned by DeNA

What we do: We make iPhone games.

Freeverse, developers and publishers of awesome titles such as Skee-Ball, Flick Fishing & Top Gun for iPhone & iPad, Marathon: Durandal for Xbox Live Arcade and Wingnuts 2 & Burning Monkey Solitaire for Mac, and winners of multiple Apple Design Awards, are looking for a certain someone to fill a unique position.

Looking For: A server engineer who can create, and manage game servers to support millions of users. Create web-based management tools to admin these games. Can think creatively, and can think like a gamer.

Our primarily language is Ruby, but PHP is thrown into the mix a lot. And an understanding of SQL is vital.

After working with a few engineers, it's important you understand "game" logic and understand that a "game" way to do something isn't always the proper way, but it's the fun way.

Requirements: This is going to be cutthroat. We are really looking for an excellent engineer. Originally we were only looking for Ruby engineers, but instead we need someone who can adapt to multiple languages. You don't have to be a Ruby guy, as long as you can code.

We are mostly looking for experience over education. If you have experience with systems with hundreds of thousands of users, we are looking for you.

Other things to know: As a game company we often don't keep normal hours. We start the day at 10 AM, but we might stay until 11 PM on a deadline. We might work weekends. But we work in our socks. We work in small teams and dedication to the project and company are vital.

Benefits: Great Medical and Dental. Commuter Check, 401k, Stock Options, great vacation plans (very flexible, you get your poo poo done is all we require). Fully stocked kitchen, company outings, office library of games. Cutting edge software and hardware to work with. Also, pets in the office. Company iPhone.

For full details go here: http://www.authenticjobs.com/jobs/7338

If you do apply, drop me a line bruce at freeverse dot com. And I'll make sure your resume makes it into the good stack.

Honestly, if you are looking to get out of the Banking or Medical or whatever field and get into games, it's an exciting time. We are very aggressive in this market, and we pay our employees to reflect our aggressive approach. In 2010 we released 20 iPhone titles, there are only 24 people in the office.

High school degree is fine, college degree not required as this is an entry level position.

If you're interested, submit a resume to jobs at lightbound.net

My experience: 10 years of experience in technical support on Mac and PC platforms, as well as some experience in Windows system administration. Currently working at HP in support for xw and Z series workstations; seeking other opportunities due to a lack of advancement opportunities and no option to telecommute.
Education/Certifications: MCSE and MCSA; Used to be CCNA but it has expired. A+.
What I'm looking for: Advanced technical support in either software or hardware as well as light system administration. Telecommuting would be a major plus for me.
What I'm NOT looking for: Basic help desk or call center type positions. Small companies are fine but I'm not looking to join a sinking ship; I have gotten burned twice before with companies that failed/laid me off due to financial problems.
Where I live: Atlanta metro west.
Where I'm looking: Atlanta metro area plus telecommuting jobs from anywhere.
When I can start: I would need two weeks notice but otherwise, right away.
Requirements: At least $20 an hour 1099 or W2.
What is Unique About Me: I have excellent problem solving skills and I learn new systems and software quickly. I also have very good customer service "soft skills" and I frequently receive very positive feedback from my customers.
Can be reached via: email at quantumfoam at gmail dot com; resume and references are available upon request.

My experience: Over 10 years experience in desktop and service desk support roles in large scale corporate environments, including private and public sector IT support. I also have some experience managing an NT4 network and backup operation and with a little bit of coaching I'm confident I can take on server side roles as well.

Education/Certifications: A two year college diploma in CS. ITIL Foundations 4 certification.

What I'm looking for: In house IT support in a corporate environment. Public or private sector is fine. I'm willing to do some travel to satellite offices but I don't want to be on the road constantly.

What I'm NOT looking for: Help desk support or short term contract positions. I'm looking for full time, long term employment with benefits.

Where I live: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Where I'm looking: Anywhere in the GTA, preferably somewhere I can get to via transit. I'd prefer to not have to buy another vehicle but if the job is right I will.

When I can start: Now.

What is Unique About Me: I'm the desktop support tech you call when things go weird. I can usually find a way to fix what other people would consider un fixable, diagnose the weird hardware problem that's stumped the vendors for the past three months and tell your application developer why their in house software just won't deploy properly. I like to find the one thing that'll salvage your high profile user's desktop quickly and without data loss, recover that lost e-mail or get that quirky piece of unique software they need working. I'm not the kind of guy that just wants to re image the thing at the first sign of trouble just to be done with it. Truth be told, as much as people rag on 'computer janitors' I love the job, I'm good at the job and if you need a good desktop tech, you should hire me before someone else does.

We are hiring a Systems Administrator in Washington, DC for a major industry trade association. You have seen our ads. This is frankly a wet dream of an operating environment -- we have a very, very well funded department with very, very minimal red tape. You get the chance to work on some interesting, cutting-edge projects [raise your hand if you have IPv6 in your office?]. The management team -- my boss and I -- are both jaded, dyed in the wool IT types who will keep the suits off your back and will never sell you down the river. Now, we do work very hard here, but you get to see the results first hand. Etc, etc.

Here be the job description:
