The Middle East Institute is seeking a webmaster to oversee the overhaul and rebuild of our website. This will first entail diagnosing and offering possible solutions to problems with the current site, making recommendations for increased functionality for a new site, and soliciting and reviewing bids for web design contracts. The webmaster will act as the organizational representative in the development and implementation of the new website, including training employees on new site, and maintaining and updating the website as needed. Responsibilities will also include video and audio support on the website for MEI events and activities; e-commerce support for the website; and other minor tasks. This is a full-time project position. Upon project completion date, there will be an opportunity for an ongoing part-time position.

Requirements for this position include:

- BS in computer science or related field
-or-
- 5+ years work experience in programming and/or website design
- Thorough knowledge of Drupal, DNN, Javascript, CSS, QHTML, XML, SQL, Perl,and PHP

- Experience in cross-browser compatibility
- Understanding of search optimization and social media optimization
- Experience soliciting/evaluating bids for website design/implementation
- Graphic design skills a plus
- Fluent English speaker

The ideal candidate will have:

- Strong project management skills: successful experience prioritizing and managing multiple tasks efficiently, as well as completing follow-up.
- Highly organized and efficient, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, sense of humor, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.
- Ability to work efficiently in occasionally stressful environments.
- Ability to anticipate and plan for long-term needs of organization and website
- Excellent “people skills” – able to communicate complex technology information to the layperson
- Experience working with nonprofit agencies and/or nonprofit-run businesses preferred
- Interest and/or background in the Middle East a plus but not required
