Technical Support Engineer

This position for a Technical Support Engineer is located in Dallas, TX for a company in the hosting industry. Applicants must be able to work full time within the datacenter. No telecommuting.

Responsibilities

Assist clients in a friendly manor with hardware, network and power issues pertaining to their dedicated hosting.
Develop and maintain technical documents, articles and materials upon request for Limestone Networks clients and support personnel through our internal knowledge base and user forums with a goal of improving responsiveness.
Must be flexible and able to switch shifts within a moments notice to cover.
May be called upon to build and/or test servers to provision incoming orders.
Repair/Crimp CAT5e network cable for racks within the datacenter when needed.

Experience / Aptitude

2+ years of hardware troubleshooting experience.
1+ years Linux experience.
Effective and energetic problem-solver with strong technical aptitude and ability to think strategically and creatively.
Must possess strong communication skills with the capability to express ideas and concepts in writing and verbally; must be able to successfully interact with all levels within the organization.
Must be capable of working on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors; must be able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize. Must be able to multi-task and work with limited supervision.

Experience: Close to 15 years of experience doing contract jobs for customers ranging from setting up LAMP stacks for various CMS, running and helping build/design/maintain a national platform used for marketing, to building out mail servers with SQL backends, to configuring and racking everything from standard servers, to racks and racks of muxes and channel banks for telecom installs.

Currently working for a webhost/dedicated server provider and find that I like the work, so looking for something similar.
