I just want Ippo to wipe that smug loving smirk off of Woli's face. Perferably by physically removing his lips from his body.

New Ippo! http://www.onemanga.com/Hajime_no_Ippo/869/ It's not bad, though Woli lasts for another chapter too long.

Miyata has lightspeed knuckles, so Ippo gets accupressure fists; he hits one area of the body to affect another. It's just dumb enough to be true, and it scares me.

I hope, during the inevitable Ippo/Itagaki faceoff, Itagaki tries to pull off a head slip, and the force of Ippo's punch snaps his neck clean off of his body. I hate Itagaki.

I'm cautiously optimistic for this upcoming fight, although it seems like a foregone conclusion it'll end in a slugfest. EDIT: I am totally optimistic for Takamura's upcoming fight, though.

It's pretty good until he fights that fisherman guy whose whole shtick is I PLAY IN THE WATER THEREFORE I CAN HOLD MY BREATH LONGER THAN YOU THAT MEANS I'M BETTER AT BOXING At that point it's a pretty sharp decline into mediocrity, and eventually just plain terrible.

Ippo will invariably win, but he'll only just barely eke out a victory over Itagaki (might possibly even be Ippo's one and only win from decision) instead of wasting him and permanently crippling him from a single kidney blow.

Also, you're telling me he got Ippo to number #3 in the world without getting a big payday? Nyandaber Z posted:Wasn't it established by Mashiba that what made Ippo weakness was that he was more concerned about returning safe from a fight than winning? I kinda expect the turning point to be something like "continuing this fight will significantly reduce your life span Ippo, let's throw the towel", and then Ippo proceeds to continue and tap into some hidden potential or whatever shounen thing before making another comeback win. Ippo's samurai spirit causes him to literally transform into a samurai and he beheads Gonzalez. T.K.O. in the sixth round

trucutru posted:A-ha! You thought you had me but I intercepted your punch with my head! To be fair, this is actually a real thing. It's kind of a last resort sort of deal, when you have no other option but to take the hit, but the alternative is taking the punch to your face where it will absolutely hurt a lot more. The rest, however, is as hilariously insulting to real boxing as I've come to expect out of this manga.
