Ah she's great! Saw her a few years back.

First gig shots I've really taken. Interesting experience. Certainly gave my XT1 a bit of a workout.

Popping into this thread after a few years. I know this isn't in the same league as what y'all are posting. I never shoot this kind of stuff. I was having fun and it was a mellow venue so I wish they would have had a longer set so I could have tried to make it more dynamic.

Actually got all their faces in one!

I still listen to them regularly! How does the remaster sound? I have the original release.

I've only listened to it on lovely smart speakers so far :(

I can say some of the remixes or 12" mixes I've never heard before were really great.

I shot my first concert* on Saint Paddy's Day at the local bar and even got paid. I was in the pit and there wasn't really any other place for me to work. I shot wide open at ~1/250 the whole show. Any advice for shooting in absurdly squashed spaces?

I got to shoot my second concert on Saturday - what a blast. Difficult night as 4/4 vocalists decided they didn't want to stand in the lights lmao.
Second band on the bill even inquired about future paid work - did not expect that this soon. I don't know how to process that good lord

There's a festival here in Guelph next month I got a media pass for - and I'm trying to get the smallest lens as possible. I'm borrowing a 24mm 1.8 from a friend and just interchanging that for group shots and then rocking the 35mm (as seen above). And yeah, shoot wide open. Your photos are good!

Thanks. I struggled a lot with btbam, due to the lightning, but got some useable shots in the end. Was very fun and my first time being allowed into a 'bigger' shows photo pit.

So the impetus to me shooting concerts has come and past - a back to back Protest The Hero show in our sleepy little town of Guelph - What a loving rush, I cannot believe how much fun this is. I've been listening to Protest The Hero since high school and having them interact with my photos is just loving mind blowing - I'll try and keep the spam low as I get through more of these photos but here's some early highlights

About 10 years ago we drove 3 hours to see Protest and a bunch of lovely metal bands but Protest never showed up because they were too drunk. I think I remember them later canceling the rest of that tour.

BtBaM were loving great live though. Great shots all. I'm shooting a few shows for a Kpop company next week, will be a cool challenge.

So our local festival has come and gone - Too many photos taken. Too many shows god I'm tired.

More Protest The Hero (night 2 though)

Now comes the tricky part - multiple bands have seen fit to request my hourly rate for concert shots but also band headshots and stuff - and I have no idea where to even start pricing wise.
Any tips from anyone?

20 years ago I’d do a flat fee of $200 for a band’s promo roll and let them pick 4 shots for me to edit and then they could use however they wanted. That was Athens GA. Bigger bands like Widespread could afford more so they got charged more (like $500 I think?). Adjust for inflation and cost of living maybe.

Kpop shows rule, ton of fun and energy from the artists and crowds. Capturing the choreo adds a whole different layer to things too.

The lightning going on there, feels a lot more deliberate, than most of what I see haha. Great shots, especially the first one.

Eyes from a few days ago. Good fun, the singer especially makes it a fun one.

Funny you say that, cause the next night was in a dive bar with a tiny and dark stage. They still had some lights but I threw up a strobe in front of house and had to pick angles carefully.
